I love this story so much! A bit of a second chance vibe, age gap, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, i hate everyone but you, wounded hero who just needs to be loved. Connor Crais was the perfect person to narrate Cole’s grumpy, closed off personality, and Vanessa Edwin was amazing as Violet!

An Amazing Listen! Cole & Violet

Elsie can't write a bad book. Her characters are the best part of her writing. These characters have multi dimensions and make the story worth reading and living through the journey. Violet is a jockey and has a real love and compassion for horses. Cole on the other hand has a past trauma that makes him afraid of riding horses.

I enjoyed the writing and how we alternate between the past and the present. Because years ago, Violet and Cole were online friends. Cole is such a damaged hero but his heart is still so big in the way that he cares for certain people. Violet brought a spark back into Cole. I think their relationship also felt equally balanced.

The audiobook was such a great listen, I had previously read the book, but this audio really brought the story to life. Connor Crais as our damaged Vet and Vanessa Edwin as the sweet Violet was a perfect casting!

Finally!

I’ve been waiting so long for the audio of Violet and Cole’s story. A Photo Finish has always been my favorite of the Gold Rush Ranch series and the audio was worth the wait! Vanessa Edwin and Connor Crais were perfectly cast. ❤️❤️❤️

Overcoming so much

Great love story with lots of humor! After reading the chestnut springs books… I couldn’t wait to hear Violets! One of my favorites for sure.. and I love all of Elsie’s books!

Connor Crais rocks it again

Good story, slow burn, spicy BUT narration is the linchpin. Love it. I loved it.

Trifecta

Cole Harding knows every single thing about Violet Eaton's beautiful body... from afar. They met online a while back, when Violet (who was desperately trying to spread her wings away from her overprotective family) posted a nude photo in an online forum. Pretty in Purple gets a message from Goldgigger85 and what could become a salacious relationship became more of a baring of the souls than of bodies until she ghosted him for reasons, leaving him heartbroken. But as they say, the world is an oyster and when the Universe is out to get you, it will. Violet shows up as the new jockey for the family's prize winning horse. When Cole reveals who he is to Violet, she's a little horrified and lot intrigued and excited. As expected, the Universe keeps intervening and when Violet gets injured in a race, the only place that can be comfortable for someone with limited mobility is the main house - where Cole is staying.  What happened online apparently never meant to stay only ...

Oh how I loved this one! I love how they met, how important they were to each other in their personal growths, how they dealt with meeting again. I loved them as a couple! Violet is no shrinking flower and she won't take any crap from Cole. She knows he's hurting and carries a lot of emotional baggage, but she won't put up with his BS. Cole is the classic tortured soul hero but how absolutely hot is it that he GOES TO THERAPY!!! (And the therapist is a hoot!)

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Vanessa Edwin and Connor Crais. Add that it's an Elsie book and (pardon the pun) it's a trifecta. Vanessa shows you a shy, vulnerable Violet but also an  "I won't put up with this crap" Violet and it's amazing as expected. Oh how I adore grumpy Connor and when he switches to swoony Connor, you need medical help. Cole has all the swoony notes of a classic Elsie hero and Connor plays him perfectly. LOVED LOVED LOVED.

Online Friends to Enemies

This story is a push and pull between Cole and Violet. It’s also a dual timeline. They first “meet” in a forum kinda like OF. Violet decides she wants to share her own sexuality in her own way, after feeling so sheltered her own life. Posting a faceless video, Cole messages her asking if she would be willing to make specific content for only him. She denies it but ends up having a faceless online friendship.

Fast forward to current and Violet is a new Jockey who had a great first run. Training at the Gold Rush Ranch. After her race, Cole shows up since his family owns the ranch and he shocks her by calling her by her username.

Cole is an ex military man who is so grumpy. After Violet gets hurt at another race so she ends up staying at Cole’s house. The forced proximity between these two was hot.

Side Note: I need Trixie in my life. She’s hilarious!

Elsie outdid herself with Cole and Violets story! I loved them so much and can’t wait to see what is in store for book 3. Connor and Vanessa narrated these characters beautifully.

Beautiful story

This was my Mother’s Day gift to myself this year. I got to be all alone and listen to this entire book. It was wonderful. Cole and Violet’s journey took many twists and turns. I was most impressed with the actual plot of the story. The was the two of them met was something I had never read before, it was truly unique and fascinating. I loved hearing the “then” passages along with the now. Our narrators knocked it out of the park again. I swear Connor Crais can do no wrong. I especially loved it when Violet described Cole’s voice as so deep that he could be a phone sex operator!
I couldn’t recommend this book enough. Definitely go listen to, it’s worth it.

Perfect story. Perfect narration!

Honestly tell me two better narrators than @connorcrais & Vanessa Edwin….. truly…I’ll wait. Anyone who knows me at all knows I’m a huge Connor Crais Stan and he was perfect as the grumpy, brooding, tortured, sexy Cole - but like, Vanessa Edwin. I have no words she was the perfect Violet. I don’t know if this is weird or not but her MMC voice was HOT and like, did something to me. This was done so well, I loved that the texting parts of the audio were done in duet it made me so captivated in the story I couldn’t put it down.
