Worst narrator I have ever heard

The story is great, I read the books in my teens and was revisiting the story to see how it held up over time.

To my great horror my return to Krynn was completely brutalized by the worst narration I have ever heard. Not only does the narrator have no ability to bring life to any of the characters he also has no idea how to pronounce most of their names. This may seem like a small thing but I promise you any fan of this story will be driven mad within a few chapters.

Despite the narrators lack of effort or ability to read, this story still manages to overcome the traumatic performance of a narrator, whom I hope was beaten then fired, and brought me back to an epic story that deserved much more than it received. This is the first audiobook I have ever considered returning for a refund based purely off of the performance.

Great story.

Great story despite the narrator, who speaks with zero expression or enthusiasm. You would almost think he is reading the dictionary, except that the book itself is wonderful!

Wonderful Story Ruined By The Reader

I have listened to so many Audibles and this may be the worst. It isn’t a single thing, but several. The author clearly spent zero time understanding how to pronounce names. The names be did pronounce incorrectly were bad enough, but there are several who in he was inconsistent in pronouncing - often within the same paragraph/page.

When this is all combined with a lack of differentiated voices, the listener is left with a wonderful story lost in a terrible audio experience.

great story, bad narration

narrator was dull and uninteresting. pronounced ascetics as aesthetics...karamin as karamon(like pokemon) etc. the narrator tried to add enthusiasm to their vocal inflection but it ended up coming off as dull attempt at screaming.

great story though, really good. lots of action and adventure and kender (not Kinder...Mr. Narrator) shenanigans.

Poor performance

It kills me that this narrator butchers names. If the narrator can pronounce “Tasslehoff” correctly, why can’t he pronounce “Tas”?. It is not “Toss” you doorknob!

Spectacular Story Problems with Narrator

The Narrator kept changing how he pronounced the same names and words, many of which he got wrong, sometimes he was dull, others he was enticing. The book itself was fantastic and made me more anxious than any other book has.

Dull narration and full of mispronunciations

I want to like this, but compared to the narration for the Chronicles, the narration is utterly dull. There is no change in tone for the various characters and during parts with heavy dialogue, you often you have no idea who is talking until the end of a sentence. In addition, the narrator repeatedly mispronounces names. It’s quite annoying. Even worse, he mispronounces Raistlin in one sentence (Rast-lin), only to get it right in the very next sentence. If you’re going to mispronounce names, at least be consistent. Disappointing. I’ll stick to re-reading the books and avoid this narrator in the future.

Timeless

After some 30 years these writings are just as magical, just as captivating and beautiful.

Not as bad as Sandra Burr. The thing that bugged me most was the way he pronounced Tas’s name. It’s Taz not Toss.
