Publisher's summary

Dark witches here, bloody witches there, evil witches everywhere.

At home, my life is amazing, thanks to my boyfriend, Cosmo Ono-Nai, and his wonderful family that I’ve become a part of. I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life.

But work is a different story.

All anyone’s talking about is the Red Cloth this, the Red Cloth that. I can’t escape them, and all I really want is to find someplace the witches can’t reach, take my family—my pride—there, and hide them away from the world.

But I can’t. I’ll do everything in my power to protect them, and everyone else, from the building threat. There’s this dread building in my chest about what’s to come, and I have a feeling the Red Cloth is planning something big. I only wish I knew what so I could keep Cos, Jude, and the rest of our family safe.

A Purpose That Restores Us is a 119K novel and the third book in the MM urban fantasy series, The Magi Accounts. It’s recommended to listen to the series in order because it has an ongoing storyline, but there is NO cliffhanger.

*Intended for adults only. Please listen to the trigger warnings at the beginning of this novel.

Exciting addition to the series

I really enjoyed seeing more growth in the pride with mads and cosmo especially but really everyone doing their best to take care of and help heal Hayden El and Teo (sorry if I spelled their names wrong audiobook problems lol) and getting to know them better their were a couple of scary moments in this book for the characters and I enjoyed watching them navigate everything thrown at them together and I’m interested to see where this story will go next I’m eager to read the next

Rollercoaster Ride!

"A Purpose That Restores Us" by Michele Notaro is a rollercoaster ride of action and emotion. There is so much action and so many nerve-wracking events that it can feel a bit overwhelming, but those parts are tempered by the times the pride is together and living their lives outside of their jobs. They bring new people into their fold as well as gain new allies and discover more villains. Mads and Cos are still growing together. Mads is still discovering how to be ok with being loved and accepted and Cos is still not pushing and letting Mads move at his own pace. It's quite lovely. The very end though? That is everything.

This audiobook has a new narrator, and it took a bit to be comfortable with the change. But, Zachary Zaba did a good job. He is easy to listen to and brings the world and characters to life.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and this is my honest opinion.

Oh wow

I have read the books in this series and so now I am going thru the audios. So even though I knew what was coming in the book it was so completely different hearing it come from someone else. I felt like I was in a new book. The narrator did such a amazing job with such a loved book. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Family forever

The witches' danger grows and there's plenty of tension and excitement in this one, but what's really keeping me hooked is the wonderful warmth, love and sense of family in the pride with Cosmo, Mads and all the rest. They may be going through nightmarish times but they are together forever. Zachary Zaba did a wonderful job with all the characters here and balancing the tense moments with the comfort of the family ones.

Exciting! - by Shana W

This story is the continuation of a really exciting series with an excellent plot and amazing characters. The book is well written with great world building, and the characters are well developed. It is easy to fall in love with the characters, to cheer them on, and to feel their pain when things go badly. Michele Notaro's writing allows this, because it is so detailed. In fact, the reader can easily picture the action scenes for the same reason.
The narrator, Zachary Zaba, reads with excellent pacing and expression. He really brings the story and the characters to life. I really loved this book and could not stop listening, sometimes with my heart in my mouth when the scenes were very suspenseful.

Great Addition

This one was the most brutal one in the entire series so far. The team is put in so much danger that there were times that I didn't know if any of them were going to make it. This cannot be read as a standalone. I never thought there were so many witches, and they just don't care who they kill. There is a mole, and we find out who that is in this book. I knew in my soul that this person was a part of the bad guys. We don't who is at the head of Red Cloth yet. I loved watching the pride expanding, even Harriett joining the family. I normally do not like a switch in narrators half way through a series as you get use to a certain way that they voice the characters, but Mr. Zaba did a really good job & I enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Angsty rollercoaster ride

I LOVE this series, but boy was this book hard on my heart. You keep thinking. 'No, she wouldn't do that!' but you can never feel quite sure...and she does come close. Along with the drama and fear, there is plenty of love and connection, and the banter and snark we know from prior books. The author puts the guys through he**, and it will leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat. Then, on top of all the external enemies -taragorians and witches - there is a mole in the NHSO. (You probably won't be surprised when you find out who it is.) I love this group of guys, watching Madeo open up and get closer with Cosmo, and seeing Jude and Cosmo negotiate the love they both have for Mads (although of a very different sort for each).

I loved the book when I read the eBook, but listening to Zachary Zaba's narration added a whole new layer of emotional impact. He did a fantastic job!

Amazing & Intense

This series has been great so far and this story makes it even better. There is a lot to take in from this one and it gets extremely intense but it is so good. I can't wait to get to the next books to further the series. I enjoyed this story even more when I listened to the audiobook. Zachary Zaba's great narration really helped to bring the story to life.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

And it continues

This book is worth all the stars you can give. There is not a slow moment in this book; there is just so much. Cos and Mads continue on their journey - both personally and professionally. There is a bit of angst and build up in the story and I would note for some there may be triggers. But I have loved this series so hard, and I can't wait for it to continue - both with the side characters and Cos and Mads. There's more for them to do and accomplish but this story was just so good.

Audio:
It took a hot minute to get used to Zachary Zaba's narration but after a short while I was sucked in. I know authors can't always keep the same narrators throughout series, but I thought Michele Notaro did a good job with her new pick!

Such an amazing series

Madeo has come so far! I love that he is now openly and happily referring to his pride mates as “my shifters”. Cosmo and Mads’ relationship continues to grow. I love that their relationship is developing at a “normal” pace that an IRL one might. I am a huge instalove fan, but seeing how Notaro deepens their relationship in every book in a slower organic way, amidst the action and fighting is beautifully done. The Red Cloth were revealed in book 2, and they are the incredibly dangerous organization the NHSO is now up against. How can it be that I’m both not surprised and super surprised at the same time at a big reveal that is made in relation to it?! This book has so many amazing sweet quiet moments in it between characters, showing all the different relationships between new and old pride members. The kids help bring some light hearted moments to a heavy story. The humans in this world have a lot to answer for and I can’t wait for their reckoning. I think this might be my favourite book of the series so far. Zachary Zaba is an excellent choice of narrator to take over. He does a great job with the paranormal genre. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this audiobook.
