On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

Wow
I am impressed. I had my doubts about this book as I began listening to it. There have been a number of such tales that held great promise only to disappoint as the story developed. Most cases it was the author’s attempt to develop the protagonist. It becomes long winded and boring. Not this story it’s pretty good, though with a cluster of loose threads at the end. I hope they will be cleared up in the next book.

My disappointment regarding Black Rain.
I liked the story very much and I gave it a 4star overall, however a good author doesn’t need to resort to using filthy language. We can deal with a bad word occasionally, but foul isn’t needed or necessary for a good author. Mr Graham teams up with Clive Cussler and of the 70 plus books I have listened to of his novels, none use filthy language. Follow the example of a master.
