Publisher's summary

At eighteen, Poe Blyton’s life is in shambles and the reason is Alaric Marshall.

After her mom’s death, he appeared out of nowhere and became Poe’s controlling guardian. When she protested his tyranny, he had the audacity to send her away to an all-girls reform school. A school full of iron clad rules and regulations.

But at least she’s graduating soon.

Until Alaric himself arrives at the school as the new principal and takes that away from her as well.

That devil.

He’s really asking for it, isn’t he?

And Poe is going to give it to him.

It doesn’t matter that her sworn enemy has the prettiest dark eyes she’s ever seen. Or that he looks really, really good in his boring tweed jackets. So much so that she wants to rip them off his body and see what’s underneath.

Because scorching hot or not, her new principal or not, Poe is going to ruin Alaric’s life.

NOTE: This is a complete STANDALONE set in the world of St. Mary's Rebels.

Poe the Pocket Sized Dragon

I honestly think Poe is my favorite of the girls in this series. She is truly a pocket sized dragon. This is a great kind of finale for the original St Mary's Rebels girl club as they all come together at the end of this book. This is a VERY slow burn romance- to the point that you wonder if Alaric is ever going to cross the line. Once she is of age and he commits to being with her, he REALLY commits. Poe is a trip. I absolutely love her sass, and the showdown between her and Cynthia later in the book is one of my favorite parts. She is not a timid, back down to anyone kind of person. I really enjoyed this entire series. I feel there is more story line to come with other side characters getting their own books, but this book was the last of the original girls who became friends in the first book of the series. They are quite a spicy couple once they get going. The wit and banter back and forth between Poe and Alaric is quite entertaining. I will be looking into other books from this writer. Her characters are very well written and developed.

I requested and received a free audio copy via the publisher, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam #PinkFlamingoProductions #PFPAudio

taboo

Poe was a difficult child growing up. She was given no love or attention by her mother who was hardly ever home. She considered her a mistake. when Poe was 14, her mother suddenly passed away. Her guardian, was Mr. Alaric Marshall. She was forced to move away from her home and her friends in NYC.
Alaric was strict, didn't speak to Poe only when acted out for attention. He had rules and expected her to obey. He considered her a nuisance.
He sent her to The St. Mary's school for girls . He became the principal while she was there. She plotted to ruin his life.
Alaric also was brought up in a home without love. His father blamed him for his wife's death during childbirth
Poe and Alaric developed a love/hate relationship. Alaric learns what jealousy and love is like in his life and it all comes down to finding love with Poe.
Colt Carter and Ri Paige brings all the emotions to this fantastic story.

Emotional

Poe lost her mom and her guardian is Mr Marshall senior but he not capable to take care of anyone so Alaric his son become guardian of a teenager and he send her to a school and years late he is the new principal of St Mary. Alaric is jaded and he was bully and humiliated by Poe mother and he was also mistreated by his father. Poe has been neglected by her mom and mistreated she has never felt love only by the group of girl that she meet in her school and when she about to graduated she is held back by her guardian. Alaric and Poe grow closer to each other which is very inappropriate. Poe want to design clothes and she has hidden her talent from others. When Poe try to blackmail Alaric by trying to seduce him and she planted a camera, Alaric catches her so what does Poe does she takes provocative pictures and send it to Alaric. Both of them find out how there childhood were the same just tragic. Poe had a childhood crush on a boy Jimmy who come back into her life but he kidnapped her for money. Alaric rescue her. New character and past character appear and mention. The spiced is really hot. The narrator were so good they were just perfect for this characters. |

An Epic Angsty Forbidden Romance!

Ever since Poe came to live with Alaric Marshall after the loss of her mother their relationship has been strained at best. After Poe acts out one too many times, he sends her to an all girls reform school and disappears on scholarly research for 3 years.

Now he’s back just in time to hold up her graduation and ruin her life again. But with him being back, things have shifted between them and the tension has changed into something different and entirely unfathomable especially given he’s her guardian and principal.

I have been salivating for this book while listening to each prior book in the series knowing Poe’s story was coming. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes but throw in the forbidden guardian ward element and I am here for it. What I wasn’t prepared for was Alaric’s backstory being so utterly heartbreaking. While Poe could relate with her own trauma, his was next level and had me wanting to wrap them both in a warm hug.

One thing this epic love story was not is brief. This listen is a long one even for Saffron but there was enough tension, angst and build up to keep me fully invested the entire time. The majority of the book was narrated by Poe with sporadic chapters from Alaric. I liked that his POV was more of a mystery especially in the beginning when we are trying to sus out his motivations. I also thought that Ri Page really brought our damaged little rebel girl to life to perfection.

If you love found family, forbidden, angsty, slow burn, enemies to lovers goodness and you don’t mind the time commitment then I think you’ll enjoy this listen as much as I did. I would definitely recommend upping the narration speed though.

Hey, Mister Marshall

Hey, Mister Marshall is the fourth book in St. Mary's Rebels series. This is Poe's story. Poe did not have an easy life being raised by absentee parents. When she was fourteen, her mother passes away. Her new guardian is Alaric Marshall. Alaric decides to send her for St. Mary's school for girls. Several years later the school gets a new principle. The new principle is none other than Alaric Marshall. Poe is determined to make Alaric's life miserable. Ri Paige and Colt Carter did a great job narrating this book.

Pocket-sized Dragon

Alaric Marshall is nothing like Poe Blyton led everyone to believe. Most definitely not! (This isn't revisited in this book, but if you've read the other books in the series, not a requirement btw, you'll know what I mean.)

This is a very slow burn. When the burn FINALLY catches flames, it is... Ho. Ly. Hot! She goes from full-fledged V to marked EVERYWHERE. Alaric leaves absolutely no stone unturned. I do like the ritual he goes through after each coupling. It's sweet and wonderful.

I was cracking up at the second encounter Poe has with Cynthia. It was so stinking funny! 🤣🤣 It was close to being the best part of the entire book.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Ri Paige and Colt Carter. Both are new to me. I like the sass that Ri frequently injects into our snarky Poe, and I wish there was more time to enjoy Colt as Alaric. The bulk of the book is from Poe's POV, so it's mostly Ri.

FYI - there's a production issue between chapters 18 & 19. "Part III" is chapter 19, creating a duplication of about 30 minutes or so of content. I skipped over most of Ch 19 as a result.

St, Mary's Rebels Series

I was so excited to listen this audio as I loved the other ones in the series. I found it extremely long and felt like half of the audio could have been removed as it wasn't necessary and didn't add anything to the story. I was disappointed the previous books characters didn't show up till near the end of the audio.

Ri Paige did most of the narrating as it was mostly told in the females perspective. I didn't like her performance as it felt like she never changed here inflection as the character grew from young teenager to an adult and felt she was overdramatic at times. Colt Carter narration although small part I did enjoy his inflection.

I think I would have enjoyed it more if a different female narrated this one. I just felt she wasn't one I pictured for this one.
In the end this is my lease favorite audio in the series but glad I listened to it as the characters are part of this series and I enjoyed the series.

Poe and Alaric

Poe and Alaric

The narrators did a really good job telling the story and giving the characters a voice. Alaric😍💖💖💖🔥🔥🔥.

Alaric holy guacamole the thing this man says so hot and his voice panty melting. Can't help but feel sorry for him with everything he has to do and deal with. What he went through when he was younger. Poe I loved her for a majority of the story. First she goes through life being ignored and left alone to be raised by Nannies and her mothers house staff, so it's reasonable to act out. Then she loses her mother and is told someone she never seen or heard of is her guardian. Which I don't understand why Alaric's father was given guardianship unless it was to mess with Alaric who ends up being in charge due to his father's health and becauae she really didn't like her daughter. So now she is still being left alone but in a place she doesn't know and just wants to go back to her home in NYC. So now she is acting out trying to get Alaric's attention. Alaric puts up with her shenanigans until a boy comes into the picture and she ends up at St. Mary's where she meets friends. But then she meets her boyfriend who is going on tour and wants her to come too. Real enjoyed everything she tried to pull to get Alaric to let her out of summer school early and to give her her trust. While she does all this she slowly learns about her ward and her feelings start to change. This is around then she starts to sound like a clingy, whiny teenager and I am not a fan of that type of character so that is why I wasn't a fan of Poe towards the end she starting to get annoying.
