When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

It should have been left the way it was
I do not think that there should have been a comeback. The story was fine the way it was. And it wasn't predictable like the last two "books". Stay with the OG Magpies. You won't be disappointed.

Treat yourself to a really good read!
This book series is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read! Well written story, believable characters and really scary that while a work of fiction, it was so believable, it could have truly been story of fact. The characters were well developed including their own flaws. Excellent read!

Absolutely loved this series! I did so much that I read the first book twice...lol. I really hated to see it end, but it was awesome. The author's story of persistence is also inspiring. Great read and great inspiration Mr. Mark Edwards!

Great conclusion!
I’ve enjoyed this trilogy. This was a great conclusion and sign of the Mark Edwards writing style as it has developed. Overall, I liked this one the best, the first of the Magpies books second best, and the middle book least. It’s interesting that the concept for this story was turned away by publishers. He turned it into a terrific series.
