Meh…?

The story idea is great. Love it… the delivery was just meh. The parts that should have had you excited (such as the demonstrations) were just meh. The plot twists were ok but the female lead is just kinda dumb and super slow on the uptake. And just when it actually started getting interesting it ends on a cliffhanger.

Over all it was just an ok book. Nothing to be super excited over. (Definitely not the super amazing story tiktok has led me to believe.)

Apparently it’s being made into a movie by the producers of Twilight… 😬

I have been having a hard time finding a good book and this was amazing! I recommend listening to it

Listened Twice

I loved this. I was worried it was overhyped but was so glad to not be disappointed I’ve been following the author on social and she’s been such a breath of fresh air so happy and grateful that we love her characters. I’m proud to be obsessed and counting the minutes till book 2.

Can’t wait for book two!

Captivating, twisted vines of a story. I hope book two is just as entrancing to listen to.

This was an amazing read. Often left me at the edge of my seat waiting to learn of upcoming triumph, deceit and strategy.

Lots of twists and turns - loved it!

Highly recommend - it kept me interested through the whole story…and now I have to immediately start the next one!

Good story but voice acting for the Male characters was rough

I liked the story, plenty of twists and turns and the plot twists twisted even further than I guessed which was cool. Honestly it was really hard to get into story or connect with any of the male main characters because the voice acting for them was so strange. I’m my head when I heard the voice of the supposed love interest I was like oh no that can’t be him his voice is terrible. I would recommend a physical copy for this one.

felt same old, same old.

Easy listen, don't have to pay alot of attention. feels like many other newer "romanticy" books. Although the romance is much cleaner and less graphic than what has been pushed in those other romance, fantasy titles. If you are a new reader to the genre I recommend giving it a try. If you are an established reader it may be ho hum, but fun and easy nonetheless.

Bestseller for a reason!

I was afraid I wouldn’t like the book given all of the hate online but this is an amazing story!! I love the characters and the storyline. I can’t wait for the second book and for the movie, I only hope the movie will live up to the book. I only wish the author would have used a plethora of wording, it seems that she reused phrases and adjectives often. Also, the narrator could have used more enthusiasm or emphasis at certain parts but otherwise did a great job! Would recommend this read/listen.

Great spam marketing, bad story

I find the whole story of how this book rose to fame pretty spectacular given that being published is a dream, and getting a movie deal is even bigger. But the story feels like a draft that needs to be revised, there isn’t enough bite and content to get you going; characters are not captivating, there’s no rollercoaster of emotions, no insane twists, and some of the revelations are not that shocking (the friendship betrayal) but it’s an easy read, a very yolky read.
