Publisher's summary

"William "Rowdy" Yates is a square peg that refuses to be beat into a round hole. Alternatively promoted, demoted, and re-moted in the US Marine Corps, After getting out of the Corps, Rowdy lead a five man tactical squad at a maximum security prison before being put on a punishment detail as the night shift guard at an abandoned state prison. After an unknown force brought an RPG-like system to Earth, Rowdy exploited the system to take control of a dungeon and build a town to protect humanity from monsters.

This Litrpg series is a system apocalypse world with elements of town and kingdom building with some cultivation. If you like Tao Wong, Mayor of Noobtown, Defiance of the Fall, or System Change you will find this book to have similar elements.

Great storytelling!

Really enjoying the plot so far and the characters that have been introduced. I'm on chapter 13 and looking forward to listening to the rest of the book! Good voiceover work as well and excellent changes to the character voices and their personalities. All very distinct from one another and have very much been enjoying.

Incredible Voice Acting & Narration

I can say with complete certainty that this is among the greatest voice acting I’ve ever heard in an audiobook. I’m new to the LITRPG genre and didn’t know what to expect, but Ryan Logan’s exceptional narration had me on the edge of my seat and dying for more. The book itself was a gripping and fascinating story of adaptation, self-discovery, community, growth, and honor while being laugh-out-loud funny and heart-pumpingly intense in all the right ways. As far as setting the tone and truly expressing the heart and soul of the characters, Ryan Logan was the perfect man for the job, and I am proud to claim myself as a lifelong fan of his work moving forward. I cannot wait for him to narrate Books 2 and 3 of the series, and I recommend this audiobook to anyone looking for an incredible story with a top-notch narrator.

I never knew reading an RPG type book could be so fun!

I only listened to this audio book because my friend did the audio on it, but dang am I glad he told me to check it out! I had zero expectations and didn't even know what the book was about before I jumped in and I was instantly hooked! Rowdy is a great character, easy to love, with a bit of comedy thrown in. My only complaint would be that I wish some of the things were explained a bit more. Sometimes I was caught off guard a bit by something because it hadn't been explained before. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the 2nd one to be available!
