Publisher's summary

When Nathaniel Russell received the wonderful news that the bride he'd written off for would be arriving in New Hope, Montana, it was the happiest he'd felt since arriving to settle his claim. And when the strikingly beautiful but somewhat exotic-looking Katia stepped off the train, his heart leapt at the fulfillment of their months of exchanging letters.

But Katia carries secrets that no one in the town expected, secrets that run deep enough to keep them apart forever.

Freedom for a Bride

Any additional comments?

Fun, light, entertaining and enjoyable. A story that just makes you feel good when it's all said and done. This is just a clean, sweet romance with a little mystery.

This is the 2nd book of the series but the first book I have listened to. Each story in the series can be read as a stand alone.

Nathaniel has done what many men on the frontier did and contracted for a Mail Order Bride. Unexpectedly when she arrives she cannot speak English and this throws an unexpected curve into the mix. Along with the communication barrier Katia has a secret. Getting to the alter will be more of an adventure than Nathaniel expected.

Charles D. Baker does the narration for the series. This is the first time I have listened to him narrate a story. Overall I enjoyed his narration. He has a lot of good character voices, but while he has a wide variety of character voices some of the accents sound off, more like they are from India than Russia. Especially in the beginning. His female voices are good except for the female laughs. I like the rough edge to his voice, it has that cowboy "feel". There are some background noises occasionally throughout the audiobook.

Heartwarming and unique ꒰˘̩̩̩⌣˘̩̩̩๑꒱♡

It was great to have read the first story first. Although the story focuses on Nathaniel Russell; the writer kept you up with the rest of the characters, especially Pryor and Moira. They are an important part of the story as well as the unexpected plot twist involving Nathaniel and Katia.

The story itself was kinda unique; although I can relate. Being in a foreign country unable to speak the language has its disadvantages. Falling in love at first sight can be overwhelming when you can't communicate. Writer Amelia Rose did a wonderful job making it work.

Between their many hard shores and struggles, everyone was willing to work together and help each other. It was heartwarming and at times heart wrenching the situations brought by language barriers.

Narration by Charles D. Baker was once again magnificent. I enjoyed the clean voice, the tones, the emotions in the characters. Made the story come alive. Yes, I love him as an actor! ♡

Freedom for a Bride: Montana Passion, Book 2

We are back visiting friends New Hope, Montana. Nathaniel Russell sent off for a bride, and when Katia arrives the fun begins. Language barriers and secrets abound. There are lots of side trips through the story, but waiting to see if they will get to "Happily ever after," will keep the listener intrigued.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.I loved the accents.

Sweet Story 💕

It's such a pleasure to listen to a book that has appealing characters, a romance that is clean, a plot that's not too predictable and narration that fits the story. Each book in this series is about 4 hours long so they make a great afternoon listen.

This particular book in the series is the story of Nathaniel and Katia. I have to admit the first chapter describing Katia's family gave a tear to my eye. This delightful story shows the difficulties and sacrifices they made in the name of love and commitment. I recommend this book to all ages.

The narrator does a really good job with this series. 😉 He's got a great "western" quality to his voice. There were a few production or editing errors however. A few times there were noises......it actually sounded like airplanes flying in the background. Lol. But despite that, it was a very enjoyable listen.

I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.

Warm hearted book

Amelia Rose keeps bringing incredibly warm stories of the mail-order bride. This one brings us Nathaniel. He is a lonely rancher, looking for a woman to share his life with. Initially listening to this book, I was convinced that somehow, Gretchen was going to be the woman he becomes involved with, but a little plot change, and his betrothed that he has been corresponding with comes. Katia is a Russian woman, who much to everyone's surprise does not speak any English...how can she correspond? Well, someone wrote to Nathaniel for her. He does his best to speak to her, and they decide to get married. With Gretchen as their chaperone, and Moira being able to speak French to Katia(who surprisingly also speaks French) we find out that there is a secret that Katia has that could end the marriage before it begins. Katia asks Moira and Gretchen not to tell Yell(Nathaniel...she couldn't pronounce his name). Moira gets around that, and Pryor, Moira's husband gets involved. This secret is big....and I am not going to tell you, but it is surprising and you have to keep reading just to find out how it all turns out!

I really love how Amelia has involved the characters from book one into this book. You get to really know the people, like they are your own neighbors. This is something with most series that you do not get, usually the original cast is no longer integral to the story. In this case, we get to know more about Moira, Pryor and Gretchen which only makes the story more intriguing.

Charles D Baker is a wonderful narrator for this series. He has a good voice for the historical western and I find him enjoyable to listen to. I also love his Irish accent!

Ridiculously feel-good story

How do you communicate your love, when your mail-order bride is Russian? She doesn't understand your words, and misinterprets your actions... Oh my, it's not easy for young excitable Nathaniel. Good thing that he has his friends Moira and Pry there to help! Oh, and he just might be getting more than he wrote off for...

This is a clean romance, full of friendship and sweet affection. There are hurdles to overcome, but you know they will be. The story flows nicely and you'll fall in love with the whole circle of friends in New Hope. Besides, it's historically accurate and depicts the rural American life very nicely.

I liked it very much. And can I praise Charles D. Baker for doing a great job once again? His performance gives Amelia Rose's books so much life.

You'll love this book whether you are 13 or 113, trust me :)
