Louise Hay is a conduit of peace.

I love Louise Hay. Her voice is soothing. When I am in a negative mindset, her affirmations help replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Everything is perfect with this audio book except that the sound fluctuates. I prefer to listen to this as I drift into a sleep. I set the volume to be just loud enoughto hear, but low enough that I can fall asleep. But the sound fluctuates in and out making it so I can't hear everything, or I have to turn the volume up louder than I would like so that I can hear all of it. The music sections are much louder. I have to turn the volume down during that portion of the recording.

definitely relistening

Great experience from the start. I repeated the affirmations aloud and noticed it genuinely affected my mood that had been so down for some time. There aren't that many chapters, 3 of which I plan to skip during relistening because two are just elevator music and the last chapter wasn't the same as the affirmations in the beginning. The last chapter seems to be for relaxing into sleep.

Flips a switch in my thinking

I love how she says the affirmation in first person or “I” statements, then repeats the affirmation in “you” statements. It unlocks a loving mindset for me and really helps change my mood alongside prayer. I feel more optimistic immediately.

Recommended for the Text Rather than the Music

Six tracks (chapters) comprise this audio book.

Overview of the six tracks with approximate running times:

Track One: The audio book begins with a brief introduction akin a copyright page. (00:32)

Track Two: Louise Hay explains how affirmations and subliminals work and shares the basics of good self-esteem for approximately four minutes. The introduction is followed by approximately twenty-five minutes of general life affirmations (in first- and second-person), and the track finishes with a loving close by Louise. The background music sounded computer-generated, but I did not find it terribly annoying. (31:08)

Track Three: The music on this subliminal track was probably computer-generated. However, I could identify some instruments–such as keyboards, guitar, flute, harp, drum, saxophone, and possibly trumpet)–which made it less annoying for me than the other tracks. There is no discernible speaking on this track. (29:50)

Track Four: Louise Hay shares her philosophy on stress and fear in a brief introduction. She also explains how the subconscious works and why subliminals can be helpful. With nature sounds and soothing, computer-generated music in the background, Louise affirms healthy responses to stress and fear in first- and second-person. Louise also takes the listener through a brief progressive relaxation exercise, so the track is definitely not for use while driving, operating machinery, or doing any other task that requires one’s attention. The track ends with a brief message of love from Louise. For me, the music on Track Four is the least annoying. (31:02)

Track Five: Ocean sounds and computer-generated music (synthesizer keyboard type of thing) cover subliminal affirmations that are supposed to be the same as on Track Four. The music is a tad annoying, but I think I could sleep while it plays. No discernible speech occurs on the track. (30:05)

Track Six: Although listed as a meditation, this track is more akin to a mini-class with several exercises, one of which calls for a partner, ending in a brief total body relaxation that seemed truncated. I found the computer-generated music on Track Six to be extremely annoying and probably won’t use the track very often. (23:47)

Overall, I found the audio book helpful. As others have written, it is quite helpful to play in the background while I read or write. For those who might hesitate to incorporate affirmations into their lives due to traditional religious beliefs, please know that I am such a person and did not find anything even remotely objectionable in the audio book, but ymmv.
