Story
Mary Lennox starts her life as an unhappy victim of circumstance. After the loss of her parents, she moves to rural Yorkshire to live with a distant uncle where she resents the wildness of the countryside. At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. Although unsure about her surroundings and its occupants, through the gentle guidance of the maid she gradually becomes interested in the story of Mrs Craven, who apparently used to spend her time in a garden at the house, the key to which has vanished.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.

Welcome back! The creatures that lurk in the wilderness have missed you. Enter the forest once again, flashlight trembling as you search for the unnatural sounds you heard just outside the perceived protection of the light from the campfire. The narrator's tone and inflection was nice to listen to.
I disliked that so much was repeated constantly. There were places where he would say a couple of lines and then immediately repeat the exact information. It hurts my head.

A very brief overview
I realized about 45 minutes into this audio that I was not it's target audience. While I know this audio is only three hours long, it didn't do it's subject justice. The interview with Loren Coleman was interesting, but very brief. If you are like me and have been reading books and watching shows on this subject for years, then this book will not offer anything new. Kids who are new to the subject may find it interesting to hear about cryptids that they may not have known about. Others will find this offering to be way too brief to be interesting.
