What does it mean to be an adult? In the 20th century, psychologists came up with five markers of adulthood: finish your education, get a job, leave home, marry, and have children. Since then, every generation has been held to those same markers. Yet so much has changed about the world and living in it since that sequence was formulated. All of those markers are choices, and they’re all valid, but any one person’s choices along those lines do not make them more or less an adult.

The values and principles that guide our lives and shape our ability to lead others is far more important than our titles or our ability to crunch numbers or the impressive degrees we display on our walls. To effect true transformational change, heart-led leaders draw on the qualities of humility, vulnerability, transparency, empathy, and love.

People-pleasing—putting others ahead of ourselves to avoid something negative or to get something we want or need—runs rampant in our society. A powerful and compelling book!
Kevin Brown has been through a lot to become the successful person, husband and father that he is. And his story as told in this book is both compelling and inspiring. I recently heard him speak at a conference, and he blew us all away with his wit and inspiration. After that I could hardly wait to buy and listen to this book--so glad he reads his own work! Thank you Mr. Brown for reminding me that a determined spirit, hard work and enlisting the aid of those helpers, who are usually all around, can lead to overwhelming success. Thanks for sharing your message of hope, and congrats on a job well done!!!

Must read for anyone who wants to be a hero or to be reminded who their hero is
I had the privilege of watching Kevin Brown at a recent conference and when I got home I downloaded his book and listen to it. It was amazing to hear similar stories from his speech in his book, however his book goes much much deeper and it’s something that can be reread/re-heard over and over again. I especially like that Kevin read the book because he’s a powerful voice of encouragement. I encourage everyone to read this book to be reminded of who they are, who they can be and to honor the people in their lives who had a positive impact.
