Story
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Story isn't just one way to persuade. It's the way. It's built into the architecture of the brain, and has been since early humans gathered around the camp fire, trying to figure out how to outsmart the lion next door. In Story or Die, story coach Lisa Cron sets out to decode the power of story, first by examining how the brain processes information, translates it into narrative, and then guards it as if your life depends on it.

In Areté, Brian Johnson integrates ancient wisdom, modern science, and practical tools to, as per the sub-title of the book, help you activate your Heroic potential and fulfill your destiny. If you asked the ancient stoic philosophers how to live a good life, they’d answer you in a single word: Areté. We translate Areté as “virtue” or “excellence” but the word has a deeper meaning—something closer to being your best self moment to moment to moment.

Publisher's summary
A book is not about something. A book is for someone.
You want to write a nonfiction book that matters. Book readers love and rave about a book they underline, dog-ear, and highlight. How do you do that, when you’ve never written a book like that before, when you aren’t sure what content to include in a nonfiction book, or how to organize it? And when you’re not sure if your idea is worth pursuing in the first place?
At the heart of the answers to all these questions is a craft created by A. J. Harper, ghostwriter and editor for some of the foremost thought leaders of our time. The foundation of that craft is a simple, yet powerful philosophy: Reader first. When you learn how to put your reader first at every stage of book development, writing, and editing, you can create the connection and trust required to transform their lives.
In this audiobook, Harper reveals the proven methods and frameworks she has used for nearly two decades to write and edit perennial best sellers. It’s not the easy way or the fast way; it’s the effective way. The payoff for doing this important work: a must-read book, and a massive readership who serve as ambassadors for your message and your brand.

Do you want to successfully self-publish in eBook, print, or audiobook formats? There are thousands of new books being published every day, but many self-published books quickly sink to the bottom of the pile. Many authors are frustrated because there are so many options for self-publishing, and they don't know which one to choose or what will be best for their book. Story
It's every novelist's greatest fear: pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into writing hundreds of pages only to realize that their story has no sense of urgency, no internal logic, and so is a page-one rewrite. The prevailing wisdom in the writing community is that there are just two ways around this problem: pantsing (winging it) and plotting (focusing on the external plot).

this book is a masterpiece!
write a must-read by AJ Harper changed my life! Not only that, it is changing the lives of people all over the world because she is enabling authors to share their messages. I because the book is so good, I read it first and then listened to the audible. AJ‘s performance in the recording makes the Audible come to life! I felt like we were sitting in a room and talking together because AJ is 100% authentic and her motive is to empower authors to believe in themselves, create a truly outstanding book, and to be a good person while doing it. Check check check.

Write A Must-Read is Fabulous!
It will most definitely be one of the few books that I will continue referencing for the rest of my life. I'd recommend it to anyone who writes (even if you have already published a book), including writing college papers, blogs, or articles. AJ’s emphasis on putting the reader first is a central theme for which she provides plenty of useful examples. It’s already helping me organize my content in a clearer, more streamlined fashion. Hopefully, that results in readers finding my writing more enjoyable, too. The Audible version is great because it's the author’s voice and I could listen on my walks. However, within the first 20 minutes I ordered the hard cover, too. I knew I’d want to flip back through specific sections and have it out on the table when I’m writing. Now, when I get stuck, I can hear the author’s voice asking, “does the content/story/data/antidote serve your reader?” That simple question makes it easier to get out of head, keeps my pen moving, and thoughts flowing. Thank you for sharing all of your amazing experience and knowledge, AJ!!

Jump start your must-read!
This book gave me the courage, the steps and the actual formula to get the book that I’ve been saying I would write for the past 8 years actually off to the races. It’s like babywise for book writers. I could not be more grateful to AJ for the generous way she shared not just fluff but an actual process to get going and make something that will change lives. THANK YOU AJ.

Excellent and helpful
I've written three books/audiobooks, two of the transformational nonfiction type this focuses on, and it'd have helped in various ways to have read this first. I found AJ through Mike M (I've read all the books they've co-authored) via a video the two did together. I'll be recommending this to others. Thanks A. J. for writing this!

A must read (no pun intended) for those writing nonfiction
I picked this up at the recommendation of someone. It’s an absolute treasure for first time (and other) nonfiction writers. My only complaint is that I found it too late. I wish I had this book before I started writing and not near the end of my first rough draft. As compelling as it it practical this book removes all excuses from you as a writer to actually write a must read book. I cannot recommend this book enough.
