Publisher's summary

The forces determined to rule the world - or destroy it - had won the battle at sea, but Edmund Talbot had a surprise waiting for them on dry land.

Science fiction adventure by the author of the New York Times best sellers When the Devil Dances and Hell's Faire.

In the distant future, the world was a paradise - and then, in a moment, it was ended by the first war in centuries. People who had known godlike power, to whom hunger and pain were completely unknown, desperately scrabbled to survive. As the United Free States, the bastion of freedom and center of opposition to the tyrants of New Destiny, prepared for the long-feared invasion by the Changed legions of Ropasa, Edmund Talbot realized that bureaucratic ineptitude and overconfidence was setting the USF naval forces of ships and dragons up for a disastrous defeat at sea. His fears came true, and the destruction of the fleet seemingly left the UFS open for a full scale invasion.

But Talbot had new concepts and strategies ready to put into effect, along with new technical innovations from his brilliant engineer. He survived an assassination attempt and quickly assembled a formidable land force combining cavalry, longbowmen, Roman-style legions, and dragons for airborne assault. The fascist forces of New Destiny thought that their war was all but concluded, and world domination within their grasp. Edmund Talbot was ready to show them just how wrong they were....

Great book, great read

The characters, the plot, the twists and turns as both develop are wonderful. With the exception of a few jarringly mispronounced words, the narration is great as well. Great continuation of the saga and looming forward to the next installment.

John Ringo is Great

Love listening to Ringo’s books. I have read most of them (actually all I think) and listening adds to the experience. He does like sex but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience.

Book 3 of the console wars series

Robert Heinlein used to be my favorite Author. It is now John ringo. The post apocalypticWorld set 3000 years in the future and the battleContinues. The character development for Duke Edmond, the perfect Warrior Hetzer, and all the other characters both good and evil are developed even more. Taut well written battle scenes highlight this book 3.

Author Story is fine, but over explains wrongness

The story would be excellent if the author would stop trying to explain things, especially since more than not he is wrong.

He is also a chauvinist, and more importantly, ignorantly so. He thinks that male dominance had anything to do with economics or ability. Yet his beloved romans were defeated by a woman in England for years.

More so, his beloved romans were actually not that great even in his time. Sure they did some impressive things, however, when you have the resources of the romans...
These romantic view wouldn't bother me, if he didn't try to lecture on this and many other things for half of the book as if they were facts. In short stick to the story.
