Story
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Would he push himself out of his comfort zone to become the best man he was capable of being, or would he play it safe and settle for mediocrity?

Story
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

Story
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Publisher's summary
Read by the author.
New York Times best-selling author Dave Hollis knows what it feels like to realize you’ve been sailing off of someone else’s map. He has taken control of his life and future, and he’s ready to share the lessons he learned along the way with people who are facing similar struggles.
Dave Hollis was recently confronted with the fact that he was living the life someone else wanted for him. After weathering a highly publicized personal crisis amid the backdrop of an international pandemic and navigating the enjoyable but unpredictable waters of being a single father to four kids, he has been forced to become the captain of his own life and is ready to teach others how to do the same.
Built for Courage will help you:
- Dive deeper into the stories, values, and beliefs you attach yourself to and decide once and for all if they have credibility or if it’s time to cut bait.
- Incorporate fundamental habits and routines specific to you and your circumstances that will flood your daily life with consistency, flexibility, simplicity, and integrity.
- Identify and, if necessary, adjust your goals to ensure they are clear, don’t belong to other people, and are not contingent on immediate results.
- Accept failure as the richest source of intelligence and help you reframe it as a requirement for your own progress and growth.
- Much, much more.
Built for Courage gleans wisdom from sources vast and wide, as well as from the life experiences of Dave himself, to get you to the place you’re meant to go and become who you are meant to be, regardless of any anchor holding you back.

Totally Relatable in multiple areas of life
I have been reading this book as a part of a pre-launch program, and even when I'm not reading it, I can't stop thinking about it.
It is divided up into the stepping stones you need to navigate your way out of the safe zone and into your next big thing. What that thing is is up to you.
I have always resonated with Dave. He is one of those human beings who is honest and not only interesting, but is interested in you. He listens. He explains thing in relatable terms. He appreciates his followers, and gives back to them in the form of his social media gems of wisdom, gifts, and love.
It's easy to look up at a guy and just see his financial status, his privilege, and discount his life experiences. Don't do that. Just like with everything else in life, take what resonates with you, and leave the rest. Every human from the homeless person on the streets to the guy in the penthouse has a lesson to teach.
We all need to get out of our way (pun intended) and this book may be just the thing you need. It has helped me.
