Publisher's summary

A thrilling new adventure featuring literature’s favourite detective like you’ve never seen him before. The first in a series, Clockwork Sherlock follows ex-soldier Captain Jo Barnes. The mysterious VR detective singles her out as his own Dr Watson, but he’s about to find out she’s no fawning sidekick.

When tech giant Robert Fairfield is found dead of a suspected drug overdose, fingers are pointed at the two women who stood most to gain from his death: his fiancée and leader of the New Ludds, Greta Blackstone, and Beth Fairchild, Robert’s ambitious daughter. But when Beth is found dead and the evidence shows she was killed before her father, the suspect is obvious. To everyone, that is, except Sherlock Holmes.

Using futuristic tech and good, old-fashioned sleuthing, Captain Barnes and the famed detective set out to find the killer. With rooftop pursuits, gangland bosses and plenty of action - this listen is sure to appeal to fans of Ben Aaronovitch, Paul Cornell and Jim Butcher.

Another excellent take on a Sherlock story

If you like Sherlock Holmes stories and you like futurist fiction, you will like this. I liked the characters and story very much. I thought the technology was believable. I only have one quibble and that's the narrator can't do an American accent very well. Most of the Americans sound the same even when they should have had completely different regional accents.

A Very Pleasant Surprise for Sherlock Fans

Entered this skeptical...a futuristic story derived from the Holmes legend...but it's an excellent listen. And it takes a minute to get used to Shvorne Marks as a narrator but she is outstanding. The story moves quickly and the Sherlock references are well placed, not overdone. The ending has a great twist. This is a story you plan to listen to for 30 minutes at a time but spend hours.

Hope Audible makes sequels to Clockwork Sherlock!

Clockwork Sherlock is such a fascinating story

I hope that sequels will be published. The universe feels real, timeless. Sherlock Holmes and... Augmented Reality, and AI? Highly recommended.

Loved It

Loved it. Different from other books by this author, but still great. I really enjoyed the narration as well.

Great writing, interesting characters, twisty plot

Loved this story. There was some violence in it, but the writing managed to keep it at the "newspaper article" level without going into detail to describe gore with relish - so the story managed to continue on without dipping into horror. There were bits of humor scattered through the book, and that's a bonus but the best part is the tight writing and interesting twists and turns. It's an intelligent story, the use of tech is interesting. The narrator was a perfect choice for this character. I hope this is book one of a series.

Excellent Read

At first glance, it seems like just another rewrite of the classic, but it was so much more. The story kept you on the edge of his seat, and just wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next book
