From out of the clear blue sky, an unknown chunk of rock from the frozen void strikes the Earth with unimaginable force, gouging a wound into the very crust of the planet. Millions die in an instant, and millions more await the end as the looming catastrophe unfolds...Thousands of miles away from the disaster, a call comes in the middle of the night. Families act, and react, and while panic spreads, the world keeps on spinning. Story
In late April 1902, Mount Pelee, a volcano on the Caribbean island Martinique, began to wake up. It emitted clouds of ash and smoke for two weeks until violently erupting on May 8. Over 30,000 residents of St. Pierre were killed; they burned to death under rivers of hot lava and suffocated under pounds of hot ash. Only three people managed to survive: a prisoner trapped in a dungeon-like jail cell, a man on the outskirts of town, and a young girl found floating unconscious in a boat days later.

This was an invasion; the complete and utter recolonization of planet earth had begun. good story, virtual narrator needs work
I enjoyed the story, but the virtual narration on this title is not quite ready for prime time.
I recently listened to another book that also used the virtual narration, and it sounded fine, but this one had a lot of places where it was VERY obvious that it wasn't a human reading.
The biggest issues were with acronyms, foreign words, and similar things.
I got really tired of hearing, "Hon" (i.e. the short version of "Honey") sound like it was a Chinese name. It should've been pronounced "hun" but instead sounded like the first part of "Honda."
There were also some words that came out garbled.
That said, it was still a lot better than older-gen text-to- voice, and was mostly tolerable.
I wouldn't have paid money to buy this audio book however.
