Story
Even before becoming a husband and father, safety had been Shane McDonald’s priority for most of his 45 years. As a nuclear engineer, it’s his responsibility to keep the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant functioning at optimum levels to avoid what protesters fear most: a meltdown. But when a coronal mass ejection from the sun wipes out power across the globe, stopping a nuclear chain reaction is no longer his primary concern.

Normalcy ceased to exist in the United States the instant the Iranian EMP warheads detonated, relieving America of its abundant luxuries and conveniences. The event pushed the entire country backward in a millisecond. Backward in time to the mid-1800s—to a lifestyle that preceded the telephone and, for most, even the use of a simple lightbulb.

Story
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

Mason Lot is in-house counsel for Poseidon, a major Wall Street firm that serves as a front company for the National Security State. His job pays well and gives him insight into the corrupt shadow government, but it can't help with his problems at home. Mason assumed that the hefty price tag for his daughter’s private school would buy him a pass from the insanity plaguing New York’s public school system. Nevertheless, indoctrinated by propaganda, Wynter wants to transition into being a boy. When Mason refuses to pay for the procedure, Wynter turns to the state for help.

Story
For years, while Iran and North Korea kept Western diplomats busy, China and Russia have been quietly seeding the US with spies and soldiers. Now, a silent army of occupation lurks inside US borders, and for America, it is already too late. When the assault begins—via an EMP strike that disables the US electrical grid and neutralizes her defenses all in one fell swoop—the US is caught completely unprepared. The nation is lost, and it is up to ordinary citizens to defend their cities, towns, neighborhoods, or even just their families.

Story
By 2038, the apocalypse had been years in the making. The only question was—would it be caused by a financial collapse, a nuclear war, or a bio-weapon. No one thought the end of the United States would result from all three. Walt knew things were bad, but like most Americans, he felt the government would muddle through and keep its citizens safe. He was wrong. Too many politicians worked hard to line their pockets while not ensuring America would stay strong and survive. Walt and his loved ones have to face the apocalypse and the ramifications of life AFTER AMERICA no longer exists.

Publisher's summary
What would you do if the world you knew disappeared in a flash? "Blood is Thicker Series Book 1: Family Reunion" invites you into an enthralling saga of determination, heartache, and the enduring strength of family ties in the face of dystopian chaos. In this masterful blend of post-apocalyptic fiction and disaster survival narrative, Joe Kelly must marshal his family's courage to traverse a once-familiar world transformed into an unforgiving wilderness by an EMP disaster.
After a sudden and devastating EMP attack cataclysmically resets the clock to zero in sunny Florida, a 300-mile odyssey begins for the Kelly family, driven by the rugged Joe and supported by his staunch son Jojo and spirited octogenarian mother, Toni. Survival is not just a matter of endurance but the essence of their very being, as they must contend with relentless threats in a world gone dark and silent.
As they navigate through the parts of society that are crumbling around them, each member of the Kelly family confronts their personal demons and the dynamics that bind—and sometimes divide—them. Taylor, Joe's fiercely independent daughter, contemplates the clash between survivalist instincts and her own moral compass, while estranged ex-wife Paulette, marked by regrets of the past, makes a punishing trek on foot with a determination to mend broken relationships.
A series rich with complex characters, "Blood is Thicker" offers not just an action-packed storyline, but also a deep exploration of human relationships forged in crisis. The stark realities of the post-apocalyptic world force this family, along with a cadre of diverse survivors including the tenacious Maria Warner, into unforeseen alliances and confrontations. But it is Joe’s blossoming ROMANTIC connection with Maria amidst the turmoil that adds a poignant layer of complexity and hope in the stark landscape.
This novel captures the essence of the disaster fiction genre, with a stark portrayal of a Post-Apocalyptic World.

Miles “Shrug” Lindstrom received a quest years ago. He was the only person who could see the window, and in addition to the quest, he could also see a countdown to the end of the world. Part of him was hoping that he was just insane and had been hallucinating when he first started seeing the window. Then again, if the quest was just his imagination, he was going to be massively in debt with a rental full of useless junk. But when the countdown finally stops, what happens is nothing like he could have imagined.

Story
Clint Redshaw walks into a port facility meeting expecting an ordinary day arguing about the budget. When the shaking starts, he keeps calm. But as the tremors stretch on and on, the ground rips apart, the dock disintegrates, and chunks of land fall into the Strait. When the quake finally ends, there's only one thing on his mind: his daughter. Mika's singing songs and laughing with a gaggle of other sixteen-year-olds as they climb into the Pacific Northwest mountains for a scout weekend. One minute, it's sunshine and good vibes, and the next, it's screaming and chaos.

Story
Normalcy ceased to exist in the United States the instant the Iranian EMP warheads detonated, relieving America of its abundant luxuries and conveniences. The event pushed the entire country backward in a millisecond. Backward in time to the mid-1800s—to a lifestyle that preceded the telephone and, for most, even the use of a simple lightbulb.

heartwarming story with many turns
just finished listening to it and i felt like i'd been on a roller coaster, but in a good way. it's like watching a movie where you're rooting for joe and his gang, feeling every bump and scrape along their crazy journey. the part where joe finds new love made my heart do a lil' flip, showing there's always a silver lining, even in the worst times. taylor's struggle to trust her dad and then seeing them come together was super touching. the way everyone bands together, turning strangers into family, got me thinking about what really matters when stuff hits the fan. it's wild how they keep moving forward, no matter what, kinda inspiring tbh. makes you wonder what you'd do if you were in their shoes, i wonder if this is a series and if there's a book 2.

extremely extremely poor character, environment and story development.
Disliked it all! Terrible writer! It was almost as if the book was written for preteens except for the gratuitous sex and rape. Very amateurish compared to other books and authors I've listened to.
