Publisher's summary

Have you heard the expression “twelve times a groomsman, never a groom”? Neither had I… until it suddenly became clear that every man I dated found their One True Love in the person they dated after me.

Now I’m writing Best Man speeches for my former boyfriends twice a month, the “After Oscar” thing has become a legend, and I have finally accepted that Oscar Overton is nobody’s Happily Ever After.

Which is fine.

Between running my investment company, providing for Frank, my emotional support hedgehog, and keeping my enthusiastic family from getting in my business, my life is plenty busy. The last thing on my mind is a relationship.

Until Hugh Linzee.

One hot night with the gorgeous wedding photographer somehow turns into a text conversation I just can’t quit, but I’m determined to keep my distance. Hugh has ideas… ideas about romance and fireworks and capital-L love… and I care about him too much to let him get those ideas about me.

Fate keeps throwing us together, though. After an accidental all-night phone call and a convenient wedding run-in, suddenly I find myself agreeing to be his fake boyfriend, and distance quickly becomes a thing of the past.

But how long until Hugh figures out he’ll only get his HEA… After Oscar?

Best Series Ending

I normally don't leave reviews because I’m not good with words but this was the best series ending I've listened to in a long time that pulled so much emotion from me.

In book one I only got a glimpse of Oscar and as the series continued the more I felt for him. I started to see Oscar for who he really was and hoped he'd find his Happily Ever After. So I waited for this for a long time and it did not disappoint.

My heart was put through hell in the best ways. It rejoiced, hurt, swelled, broke and then finally burst into happy confetti. In other words, this book and series ender hit hard in the feels.

You know it's a good book when you start fussing at the characters. Cry for them and basically look like a mumbling loon to everyone else around you because you just have to put your own two cents in like the characters are real people and in the same room with you. (No? Just me? I'm very passionate lol)

Oscar’s story was the best of them all because he truly deserved it the most and I will definitely make this book (and series) a regular listen.

As always Michael Dean does an amazing job and I always love his narratives.

Lucy and Molly thank you for giving Oscar the very best HEA. It showed how much you cared for our prickly little hedgehog.

Oscar finally gets his HEA!

This was a special one for me. Lucy Lennox was one of the first MM authors I found and I absolutely adore her. The After Oscar journey for me started back in 2022 when I read the first book IRL: In Real Life and I was hooked. Please be aware there may be some spoilers ahead if you haven’t read the series. During the series we see several of Oscar’s exes find love. There’s a myth now that says that after you date Oscar your next partner will be your soulmate. Poor Oscar seems to be the unlucky getting left behind. The book starts at the wedding of one of Oscar’s exes where he meets Hugh, a photographer. They share a passionate night but ultimately decide that that’s it. They do remain friends and end up texting frequently. During the span of about a year they end up meeting face to face again several times because of mutual work and coincidence. They end up falling for each other but are both stubborn to admit, each for their own reason. Hugh is a hopeless romantic. He’s been hurt before and wants the ultimate fairytale romance. Oscar says he doesn’t believe in romance but ultimately, he just believes that he’s nobody happily ever after. This book was so worth the wait. The way Lucy and Molly weave the story, including interspersing characters from the previous books is seamless. Of course Michael Dean does a phenomenal job as usual. Overall, an amazing end to the series.
