Publisher's summary

She's his opposite in every way...and the greatest temptation he's ever known.

Reserved, controlled, and proper to a fault, Kai Young has neither the time nor inclination for chaos—and Isabella, with her purple hair and inappropriate jokes, is chaos personified.

With a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can’t afford the distraction she brings.

Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want, but with every look and every touch, he’s tempted to break all his rules...and claim her as his own.

***

Bold, impulsive, and full of life, Isabella Valencia has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm...except for Kai Young.

It shouldn’t matter. He’s not her type—the man translates classics into Latin for fun, and his membership at the exclusive club where she bartends means he’s strictly off limits.

But she can’t deny that, beneath his cool exterior, is a man who could make her melt with just a touch.

No matter how hard they try, they can’t resist giving into their forbidden desires.

Even if it costs them everything.

King of Pride is a steamy opposites-attract forbidden billionaire romance. It's book two in the Kings of Sin series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Contains explicit content and profanity. Recommended for mature listeners only.

Loved it

King of Pride, a forbidden romance novel by Ana Huang, takes readers on an enchanting journey where opposites attract and love knows no bounds.

Narrated in a dual point of view, the story follows Isabella and Kai as they navigate the complexities of their forbidden love. Their whirlwind and heartfelt romance made it believable, and drew me deeper into their emotional journey. I just loved their unwavering support for each other. Their bond strengthens as the story progresses, and listeners will find themselves rooting for their love to triumph against all odds.

The audiobook narration by David Lee Huynh and Emery Erickson elevates the storytelling to another level. Both narrators deliver exceptional performances, bringing the characters to life with their nuanced delivery and expertly crafted voices. Huynh and Erickson capture the essence of Isabella and Kai, portraying their emotions, desires, and vulnerabilities with remarkable authenticity.

I think this couple is my favorite so far!! Whether you're a fan of forbidden romance, opposites attract tropes, or simply appreciate a well-narrated audiobook, "King of Pride" is a must-listen.

I really enjoyed this book

I loved Kai the minute I met him in King of Wrath. It was fun getting to watch him loosen up a little and let his guard down. Isabella was a lot of fun and I love how she was able to break through Kai’s protective shell. I really hated how she didn’t feel good enough for her family and the pressure she put on herself to please them. But I loved Kai’s support for her above and beyond.

I love a good duet narration and David Lee Huynh and Emery Erickson did a fabulous job embodying their characters. They really brought the cast of characters to life.

Good performance

The Tagalog was a bit tough. It would pause me everytime. The sounds were right, the emphasis was all wrong, and was unintelligible. I think that this book may have benefitted from more authentic casting, between the slightly “off” British accent to the off Tagalog.

OK KAI!

I have absolutely fallen in love with Kai! I really enjoyed the FMC in this one as well. This was such a good audiobook. I think I definitely have to new favorite narrators. If you liked King of Wrath, I am certain you will also enjoy King of Pride. Two very different types of love stories, but Ana sure knows how to write 'em.

Kind of boring

It was an ok book. I was expecting more twist and turns like Ana Huang usually writes. I found it kind of boring and very predictable.

A beautiful opposites attract story!

I enjoyed this storyline and the narrators for this duet! King of Wrath is one of my favorites by the author and although this one didn’t top that, the storyline is still beautiful! You have Isabella who is independent, strong willed, but also insecure. She is just trying to do her best with the life she has been given but often doesn’t feel like what she gives is good enough. In comes Kai! In many ways he is the complete opposite of Isabella. She’s a bit quirky and fun where he is more straight laced and to the point. He is brilliant and definitely a perfectionist with anything he does or strives to do! He’s never really failed at anything but he puts in the work to be successful. He definitely was in need of a dose of unpredictable and Isabella is definitely unpredictable! Although their story wasn’t perfect and dealt with prior emotional baggage and insecurities they truly did bring the best out of one another! Kai was genuinely, supportive, caring, and just perfect for Isabella! He brought out the best in her and helped her find her inspiration to write! I loved his character!!

As for the narration I’d do a 3.75⭐️ It took me a bit to get into it but I did ultimately enjoy them both! I enjoyed the narrators for KOW a bit more but David and Emery truly did do a great job! Definitely loving this series and can’t wait for the third installment!

Great story bad narration

The male narrator was super annoying with his forced British accent. I think he was going for “posh” but it just sounded fake.

Otherwise the storyline is good and was a nice followup to king of wrath.

King of Pride Review

Kai’s voice was a little strange but other than that the rest of the audiobook was fantastic!

I wanted to like it more

Aye I don't know about this one. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't what I thought it would be. King of Wrath was much better. The chemistry between Kai and Isabella is good. I just don't think their carrying the story line was as good as I was hoping for. Their characters with their friends are good but I feel just their story of dating is not as good. I had more of a problem with Isabella, at first she seems to be a strong will female character but then all her inner self doubt was a bit annoying and made her come off slightly weak. I think I just wanted more from this story, I love Ana Huang but I didn't get what I wanted from this story.
