Publisher's summary

NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Ryder Creed’s priority is to keep his scent dogs safe. In the dark there are threats that are impossible to see or predict. Ever since his Marine K9 unit searched for IEDs in Afghanistan, he’s avoided nighttime searches. But when a boy goes missing in a remote area of the Florida Panhandle, Creed has to put aside his fears and navigate the risks his dogs will face after dark.

New York Times, USA Today and Amazon bestselling author, ALEX KAVA, is the recipient of two Nebraska Book Awards and a Florida Book Award. Over seven million copies of her novels have been sold in over thirty-five countries.

A KILLER IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
In the middle of the night, FBI Agent Maggie O’Dell is called to a crime scene in D.C. The M.O. matches another murder in the same area. Maggie and her team at Quantico believe this killer struck in other cities and is targeting homeless men.

After another attack leaves a colleague hanging on for life, Maggie grabs the only tip they have. She’s determined to track this killer herself as he flees D.C. and leads her hundreds of miles to a place she never expected.

ON A COLLISION COURSE.
When Sheriff Norwich enlists Ryder’s help to find a missing boy, it’s personal. The young boy is someone Ryder and his crew know. The search will lead them deep into the forest and after dark.

The paths of Ryder’s missing boy and Maggie’s killer are about to collide

I love the Maggie and Creed relationship and storyline.

The performance could be done with more feeling. It was a bit to monotone.

Good plot

Liked the way two different investigations from different parts of the country came together. The details about the search dogs and the way they work are great.

Excellent Dog/Human Mystery Series…

…if you haven’t listened to this series and you love dogs you should give it a try!!

I was so happy to see this addition. This story has a couple of moving pieces. It begins with a family stopping to help someone by the side of the road. Then things go wrong. You don’t find out what exactly happened until almost the end of the book.

Jump ahead a few years and there’s a serial killer in Washington DC. He’s killing indigent people living on the streets. He hits an informant in the head with a hammer. He then shoots a local police woman. Maggie O’Dell of the FBI feels like she’s to blame. She got them both involved in her case.

Down in Florida her boyfriend Ryder Creed is searching with his dogs for a missing child. Creed has gotten involved with a homeless man and has been trying to help him. This new found friendship and Creed’s trustworthiness with prove to be important.

Joshua Mackey does a fantastic job narrating.
This book has my Very HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

Another solid installment in the Ryder Creed series

I love all the dogs and how he takes such good care of them and how they trained so well

This was about missing and finding them
Maggie is featured prominently in this story
There are two parallel stories going on, and they meet at the end one featuring Maggie and one Ryder

I liked seeing that Brody his sister is doing well
