Publisher's summary
Violet and Aaron Dalton were traveling to Manchester after a pleasant family reunion in Lambton. Due to inclement weather, they had to stop at an inn in a small town. There, they found a little boy on the bank of a river. After unsuccessful efforts to find his parents, they adopted and raised the orphan boy as their son. Simultaneously, George and Anne Darcy lost their son in an unfortunate tragedy, and their lives would never be the same.
Years later, after losing the man he most admires, young William Dalton travels to London to fulfill his father's dream. There, he will find love but also a truth he is unprepared to face.

Story
In this low angst, a sweet retelling of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Bennet is not just idle, he is actively cruel. And Mrs. Bennet, while still uneducated, must do whatever she can to protect her daughters from their father. Mr. Darcy’s epiphany comes much earlier than in canon and it changes his relationships not only with the Bennets but with his sister, his cousin Anne, and Bingley. When the Bennet matriarch moves to an estate outside of Bath with her daughters, Bingley follows and so do both Darcy siblings.

One warning, two cautions, and two notes: WARNING: Portions of this book focus on some of George Wickham’s worst crimes against young ladies. While the revenge taken is not fully or graphically detailed, it is extreme. “He had certainly formed such a plan, and without meaning that it should effect his endeavour to separate him from Miss Bennet, it is probable that it might add something to his lively concern for the welfare of his friend.” Pride & Prejudice, chapter 45 This vagary proposes an alternate path for the characters of Pride and Prejudice. Of Whispers and Wisdom is yet another sweet, clean, low-angst novella of 47,000 words. No major villains, just a gentle love story told from a Christian perspective in the usual style of Jae George. Fascinating
I usually don't like the idea of Darcy not growing up at Pemberly with George and Anne Darcy, but this story is fantastic. Darcy and Elizabeth were destined to meet and fall in love. Wickham and his evil mother could not conquer that fate no matter how hard they tried. I love Darcy's adoptive parents who shaped a wonderful man for Elizabeth to love.

Darcy’s childhood was drastically changed by an envious woman.
I enjoyed listening to the book. It’s a nice option to have. The story was sad but has a happy ending for ODC. I really enjoy stories when something changes and I don’t have to reread the same thing over and over. I love JAFF got that reason.
