Publisher's summary

Jessica Fletcher’s favorite gin-rummy partner, Mimi Van Dorn, checks into the brand-new Clifton Care Partners, a private hospital that’s just opened up shop in town, for a simple procedure - one that leads tragically, and inexplicably, to her death. Seeking justice in her inimitable fashion, Jessica decides to pursue her own investigation of the hospital and its shadowy business dealings. On the trail of what initially appears to be medical malpractice, Jessica digs deeper and learns her friend was actually a victim of something far more sinister. Death is bad for business, but murder is even worse, and Jessica will find plenty of both as she races to bring down Clifton Care Partners before someone else flat lines.

This one was a miss

The most predictable ending out of the series so far. Same main characters, but the others were flat. Not worth the credit.

Bad choice of narrator

I agree with the other reviewer, the person narrating does not capture Jessica at all...changes the whole feel of a Murder, She Wrote book. Her voices of other characters are indistinguishable most of the time. Why did you change? I still always enjoy these stories, but you really need the usual narrator back.

Disappointed

I was disappointed in this book. I don’t like the constant banter back-and-forth between Jessica and Harry McGraw and Mort Metzger.
It just didn’t seem natural.
When Donald wrote murder she wrote the banter was genuine went along with the story and blend it in more.
Also Jessica was very conformational and combative throughout the book.
Just not the smooth writing that Bain produces

Narrator over does it

I didn’t like the narrator at all. She should watch the original tv series before voicing. She made all the men sound so odd.

Why does the narrator sound British?

I love MSW, and the story was fine, but it was so hard to listen to with this narrator. She sounds British as Jessica Flecher. The other voices were awful as well. At one point, during dialog between Jessica and Inspector Sutherland, I could barely discern the difference between the two. Please find a better narrator.

New narrator please

The narrator was not impressive at all. I'm an avid MSW reader and this narrator was not as good as previous ones. The plot was exciting as usual. Just couldn't get with her diction!

Narrator was not a good fit

Enjoyable story negatively impacted by the narrator not being a great fit to the story and characters, especially Jessica and Seth. She used an odd amalgam of high southern and transatlantic Hollywood accents and she gave Jessica an arrogant and haughty tone which doesn’t fit the character. I’m sure she is great for other books, but for a series most fans would expect the narrator to have some familiarity with the show and character personalities.

Bad performance

The narrator spoke so fast and had bad voices for the characters. Could finish at all. Sandra Burr is still the best

Good

I liked the story a lot, but the reader was sometimes a little too British or at least the accent of the main character was which to me didn’t pay homage to the American Maine accent that the original actress used.
