Publisher's summary

An explosive novel of high finance and underworld villainy from Ken Follett, the grand master of international action and suspense.

Crime, high finances, and journalism are interconnected in this early thriller by the author of On Wings of Eagles and Lie Down with Lions. In one suspenseful, action-packed day, fortunes change hands as an ambitious young reporter scrambles to crack the story. A suicidal junior minister, an avaricious tycoon, and a seasoned criminal with his team of tough guys all play their parts in a scheme that moves "paper money" around at a dizzying pace.

Forgettable

There is a reason why any reader knows 100 famous authors and no more because to tell a good story that is well written is a magical feet reserved for the elite few like Ken Follette this book, one of his earliest writings 1977 was an exercise in confusion. The premise was rather dated of course 50 years ago and

Disappointing End

Lot of characters, long trip to a very unsatisfying ending. I love Ken Follett, but this one not so much!!

Seriously?

I love most anything by Ken Follett but this one sort of missed the mark for me. The story was mediocre and seemed unfinished. When it ended I literally exclaimed as it seemed so abrupt. It missed Follett’s typically unparalleled character development.

Disappointed

I absolutely love Ken Follet but this book was not his best. It’s like he didn’t really finish the book.

Keeble makes this book!

I can see why Follett fans would not like this book it’s totally different from his main body of work but I loved it and that had much to do with Jonathan Keeble and his fabulous narration. One of my top favorite narrators his voice gets me to read things I normally wouldn’t read. I can’t recommend the book nor will I pan the book… all books can find fans or those who a left disappointed you’ll have to just try it and see for yourself .🤷‍♀️

Very Good!

Ken Follett always delivers. This story was a departure from his others, my only complaint is that it was too short.

One of weaker stories of the great Ken Follett

Weak end, insufficient depth in characters. Leaned too much on the performance/narration. Too short. Used to better stuff from Ken…
