Publisher's summary

Jack Keyes had his secrets. He was driven, noble, honest, ethical, and pushed to be the next leader of the squad – if he didn’t make chief first! So in an effort to fit in with the team, he accepted a pen pal just like the others… but never expected anyone like Mia – or the crazy proposition that came flying out of his mouth.

Mia Sinclair had truly made a mess of things this time around. Normally, she could handle whatever life threw at her, but this time she needed help from the one person she knew she could trust: Jack.

What did it matter if she folded the towels the wrong way or didn’t make the bed? A marriage of convenience wasn’t what either of them wanted, but in getting to know Jack, Mia realized he would never reject a damsel in distress…

Would he?

These standalone sweet, clean romances follow a team of soldiers that were once stationed in Afghanistan, bound by friendship. They can be read alone but if you read them together, their stories are so much richer.

Wow.... A true hero in the making

Ai narration is not bad in this story.

Jack Keyes is awkward. That is being kind, actually. To the rest of the team, he is just WEIRD. When he gets a penpal, he tries to figure her out, like a puzzle. But Mia was an enigma.

When Mia Sinclair sees a young girl hiding from her mother at Wal-Mart, she steps in to help the girl understand that hiding outside of her home is dangerous. Lily Griffin immediately takes a liking to the woman who found her little Rose. This starts a conversation where Mia is asked to be a penpal.

The story starts out strong and ends in the most gorgeous way. One of my absolute favorite Healing Hearts stories.
