Publisher's summary
The modern gods are gone; they have been removed from power by the old gods. The old gods are back: Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Roman, Hindu, Aztec, Celtic, Japanese, Chinese, Babylonian, and many others.
The first thing they do is kill off over 1 billion people who have been judged as Evil. They also eliminate the weapons of all of the militaries, all nuclear power fuel, and waste.
Gordon Anderson was a clerk at a 7-11, and he was (as usual) late for work. That is suddenly the least of his problems.
The world is changing; everything is in turmoil. However, the most disturbing fact may be that his phone now has some new contacts listed in his address book.
The gods of old, the ones that have just judged and executed a billion people and are literally shifting continents like chess pieces. They now have him on speed dial…

Story
On Mars, Jason had stumbled across the escape pod to a 3,500-year-old derelict spacecraft. The AI for the ship then informed Jason that due to him having some traces of alien DNA, he was now the Captain of a massive alien Starship. That 'should' have been good news. Except that most of the Mars and Earth government agencies had different ideas about the alien ship. And the ships AI, having been derelict for centuries... It now has some issues... But the real problem was that Jason's DNA had an additional trait that shouldn't be there... The last time anyone had one of the forbidden DNA ...

Story
The war between different alien groups lasted for over 2,300 years. But Keith Robinson didn't know anything about that. He assumed that the job he had applied for was to work on an Arctic research ship. He thought that he would be assembling parts for upgraded sonar buoys. He thought wrong. The AI on the derelict spaceship was open to lying if that could finally get the ship repaired. Hiring a repair technician from the primitive planet Earth was a crazy plan. And even crazier, it worked. After salvaging an alien ship, Keith now finds himself the ship's owner. But something is deadly wrong ...

Story
Kaylee Green was an Illegal Alien, one that had traveled 45.7 light-years to get away from her pursuers. A race that wanted to exterminate her kind. Not only was she an alien, but she was not entirely biological. Now, she was enjoying life as a human. She had recently graduated college and was happily living with her human boyfriend. Then the police show up asking about a severed hand from a six-year-old cold-case investigation. They want to know why her fingerprints and DNA both match the hand. She was trying hard not to panic. Her carefully crafted false identity was rapidly falling apart...

Story
This is the humorous misadventures of Steve White, who was taking a stroll and looking out over a small pond to see if any of the turtles were out. When suddenly, he finds himself over 400 light-years away. Surrounded by strange aliens and desperately trying to find a way out of this impossible situation. He "fakes it” and accepts the role of the Earth Ambassador to the Pathless, the somewhat insectoid partial humanoid 4-sexed race he now finds himself with. His goal is to return to the Earth. Their goal is much harder to understand. They want him to be the trade ambassador. But what do ...

Story
The Earth Space Force Military has a problem. Something so dangerous that they need the ultimate distraction. A way to keep all the news stations away from it. They need them to focus on it rather than the massive alien ‘thing’ being lowered into a pit in the desert near Area 51. They have decided that Keith and nine of his crew will be that distraction. They choose to drop off Keith, the hero starship captain, and a bunch of alien women off at Comic-Con for a surprise appearance. That is one of their problems. They also encounter several new and very dangerous alien races and must deal...

Story
Jake Taylor was your average broke student at the University. One day, when he had no classes, he stumbled across a booth set up for "brain scans," Earn while you sleep. It looked like easy money, so he signed up for the full scan. It would require sleeping in a booth for two days, but he would wake up thousands of dollars richer. It should be easy money… The next thing he knows, he is no longer human, and the new world he finds himself in is an extremely dangerous place. So dangerous that the former occupant of the body he finds himself in had just died from a venomous snakebite. He is ...

Good story, not so good narration.
This is the 4 book I have listened to that used virtual voice. The other books have had minor and few errors in the narrations.
This book however has numerous errors.
The authors should have someone listen to the narration prior to release.
Over all a good listen, but the errors are distracting.

a few hiccups
As far as the story goes I'm in love with it. I absolutely eat up anything with Egyptian gods in it, & this has them & more. It's a fun "coming of age," "reap what you sow" style book. the virtual voice isn't horrendous (it get wonky in a few spots) but it does get a few words wrong, & stumbles through dialogue, but I've heard worse from actual narrators.
