Publisher's summary

Marlene is one of Red O'Connor's kids and she's got her dad's fiery temper. Itching for something bigger, she left the family ranch in Texas and hasn't been back for a while. Now, for the first time in months, she's back on vacation where she meets Curtis Copeland who is working as a ranch hand on Circle O. The last thing Marlene wants is any form of relationship. She has a full life already and it's not on the farm. Curtis has different ideas though; he's waited 10 years to finally have Marlene and destiny has delivered her to him. Yet everything seems to be working against them. Marlene's family is dead set against the relationship and Curtis harbors a 10 year-old secret that can tear them apart. Whether they will be able to overcome these obstacles to be together is a question neither Marlene nor Curtis can answer.

Good wholesome listening!

You can always count on Amelia Rose for a good family story line. This is the first 3 books of the O'Connor Ranch and Marlene, Moira and Jim are the O'Connor children we get to meet. Each has their own story to give us, with some back story of the working ranch. Marlene meets her childhood crush and is given the chance to make that romance bloom. Moira gets to spend her summer getting to know her college infatuation on the ranch with his own secrets. Jim reunites with his love Maddie, but their story is causing a lot of friction with older brother Andrew. Rose is able to intertwine all the stories with a strong family theme of love and togetherness(except Andrew currently, but we do have hope for him in the upcoming books!). I love listening to these, giving me a chance to relax from some of the more intense and angsty stories and bring some wholesome goodness to my mind.

Charles D Baker narrates this series with his country twang. I love how he is able to give his characters that down home feeling, his small chuckle and the love this series deserves.

I enjoyed these stories, the first 2 didn't grab me right away, but I really enjoyed the 3rd book. I recommend these stories to others that like good romance 😎

I love that these are clean without foul language. Each story has a different theme but revolve around family. The storylines are well developed with believable and interesting characters. The narration by Charles Baker is good and maintains interest. I enjoyed these books and recommend them.

It Started out Strong But Fizzled Out by Book 3

– –

Red O'Connor owns a big ranch in Texas. This is the backdrop for the Texas Heat Collection.

1. Mending Fences: Marlene, one of O'Connor's daughters, spent one summer replacing posts with her brother because someone keeps stealing them. It is hard, laborious work for a couple of kids, but it needs to be done. The mystery was never solved.

Marlene comes home for a vacation after finishing nursing school. The gate to the ranch is opened up by a sexy cowboy, a stranger to her but a ranch hand for her brother. A hot and steamy tryst begins but this stopped almost immediately before it can really heat up… Here is the story about "hired help" and the ranch "princess", secrets and all.

2. Galloping Hearts: Moira, O'Connor's other daughter falls hard for Mitchell, a hired hand on the ranch. Mitchell and Moira become lovers. When Mitchell receives word that his schizophrenic mother has passed away Moira finds out that his life is not what she thought it was. Will they be able to overcome?

Moira and Mitchell both seemed to be a little bit developmentally challenged or immature to me. Her character kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but the story was still enjoyable.

3. A Place of Our Own: Maddie and Jimmy are in love. However, Maddie is caught up on the material things in life. Her wants are not outrageous but she comes off as materialistic. Will she be able to have everything she wants?

As I read through this series, but for touching on a few mature themes Amelia Rose seems to be writing for a Teen/Young Adult audience, not Contemporary Romance.
