Great Book Poor Narration

Where does Scout Force rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

About the middle

What was one of the most memorable moments of Scout Force?

The Battles

How could the performance have been better?

New Narrator he reads like an English Teacher

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The narration is really poor from the stand point that the narrator pronounces the words like he is conducting a dicton class in English. The story is good and look forward to more.

Good Story, Uptight Narrator

Despite the reviews complaining about the performance, I decided to give it a go. I enjoyed the story, as it's fun and shows potential for a good series.
Unfortunately I agree with many other reviewers - the Narrator, Mr Word, is not right for the job (at least not now). Mr Word's delivery is, most of the time, so unusually mechanical that it sucks the life out of it! He... pronounces... each... word... so... clearly... and... precisely....., that he forgets that he's telling a dynamic story to a group of eager listeners! I get the impression that he would read a workshop manual very well! Sadly this isn't a workshop manual! It's such a shame, because he has a really great voice and on those few occasions during "Scout Force" when you could tell he was starting to relax, the story flowed very nicely...but it just didn't last.
If Mr Word could relax more (perhaps a stiff drink would help!), it would make the "Scout Force" series much more worth the listen! Keep working on it!

Fun Space Adventure!!! Awesome Narration!!!

What did you love best about Scout Force?

The space battles with the K-Rang. I felt like I was there.

What does William "Bill" Word bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

William bring the pages to life. Words eye view of the action. Great voice and awesome read.

Very good book, not good narration

The book was very good. The narrator just read the book rather than getting into it. Could have been a really good audiobook.

up and down

I've read the books 3 or 4 times, that's how much I like the series. that's the up, unfortunately the narrator makes me want to throw whatever device I'm using to listen with. he make a lively and really fu. book like reading a biochemistry text book, after party and drinking for 7 days with no sleep! You get my point? I swear pass on the audio get the book if it's the same narrator for the next one!

Great book with poor narration

I love the series however the narration was the worst that I've ever heard. I'd ask for a refund if I was the author

Strong Story and Narration!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Love space operas. The details the author brings to the technology and locations (planets, space, etc.). It has action, romance, humor. Easy to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

The K'Rang. One of the best alien races ever. Their cat like qualities. Their customs, speech, brutal behavior. All brought out well by the narrator.

Have you listened to any of William "Bill" Word’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, William always gives a strong solid performance. His deep baritone voice works well with Sci-Fi books. Listen to the five minute sample if you have doubts about his performance.

Best Narration Ever Heard.

Any additional comments?

Mr. Word's exciting and exacting narration of Scout Force brings the intricate and engaging story to life. I highly recommend this Audible product as a gift or private purchase for those listeners who love adventure and science fiction at its most imaginative and intelligent. I couldn't stop listening to this stimulating story boldly told by a talented and experienced narrator. I am looking forward to future installments written by the creative Mr. Smith and told by the same dynamic story teller, Mr. Word. Bravo and standing ovation!
