Publisher's summary

I've already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp.

I'm used to it. It's what I do here. Kill monsters and other people.

This monster, Seraph, is particularly unstable—has been since the moment he arrived from Collector Mary's monster menagerie to the west, where the military stashed him away. He's in pain. I can see it. But he's not a mindless beast. Not like some of the others think.

When I start guarding him in his cage every night, I begin to see the person beneath the agony that tortures his every waking moment. I begin to see who Seraph could have been if he hadn't been twisted into this monstrous creature.

I realize that I wouldn't be able to bring myself to kill him, even for his own sake, but it doesn't matter anyway. He's already dying, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Not even when new visitors at our raider camp bring with them secrets about Seraph. Secrets the military has tried to hide. Secrets that reveal the true extent of the horror he's been put through.

And now… Now, I will kill anyone who tries to hurt him again.

Seraph is book six of the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order. Intended for mature listeners.

Give it a listen to

Performance was fantastic, This was a good book to listen to, but not as much action as the books before which made it feel slower and longer. I wasn’t much of a fan of Lilac but Seraph made me want to give him a big hug.

Unmm…wow! I’m (wonderfully beautifully) wrecked.

This series just keeps getting better with every book, as new and not yet explored characters and relationships blossom, they intertwine with older beloved folks, deepening the appreciation of all of them. And also making them funnier (looking at you Wyn and Hunter…)

Seraph…is outwardly the most grotesque and inwardly the most precious, easily stealing your heart. I think it’s strange that despite a “Monster Apocalypse” and a military takeover, I sometimes find myself wanting to live in that world over this one. Which I think is proof that Lily Mayne has done a great job crafting a world and characters to be proud of.

I hunger for more, and my foot taps … patiently, while she continues crafting this delight.

I also say it every time: Michael Lesley is a treasure with his character voices that capture the individual, and his combination of light humor and fierce emotions that bring the story to life.

There are a couple minor editing takes (e.g. repeated lines) and overall excellent.

The story was great and Michael Lesley was fantastic

I’ve listened to each of these stories and I absolutely love the series but holy crap Michael Lesley and his voice acting are astounding! He’s so talented and has done these characters justice in the audio.

As for the book, lilac and seraph were so great together! There was such emotion with Seraph getting better and what he was put through. And Lilac was just a stabby being that didn’t allow anything to hurt Seraph ♥️

Good Lord, this was ALL of the emotions. I don’t think I was mentally prepared for how much I was going to cry during the first half of this book. Yet another amazing addition to the Monstrous series.

Going into this book, I did have some trepidation about how Lilac was going to be fleshed out into a three dimensional character from the glimpses of him we’ve seen in books 3-5 but Lily Mayne hit it out of the park and he’s perfection. Not to mention Seraph, our sweet, beautiful angel baby who must be protected at all costs. Together they are the ultimate vegan hipster power couple.

I also have to say that I think I fell in love with Wyn 100x more during this book than the initial novel and his novella. His interactions with Lilac and the support and respect he showed Seraph were so quietly powerful.

Yet another easy five stars. ❤️

Performance: 1000/5!!
Narrator: Michael Lesley
Michael Lesley at this point has become a Legendary Narrator to at this point, this guy puts voices to every and it’s absolutely 100% uniquely individualized, and it’s just breathtaking at how he narrates, he did such a magnificent job for Seraph & Lilac. And they both sounded exactly how I had ‘heard’ it in my head when I read it by itself. This is a forever listen & and yes tears were definitely shed 😆🥰

The emotion

I loved everyone about this story. I was so excited for this one to be on audible. Seraph's story is my favorite. I love Michael Leslie. Love the voice you gave Seraph. It's so fitting for him. I'm so sad I've finished it.
