Publisher's summary
*Named one of the best audiobooks of 2017 by The Times (UK)*
"Narrator Oliver Hembrough's plethora of accents and voices captures the diverse characters and vivid atmosphere of this rich family saga...Variations in Hembrough's cadence and pitch enhance the drama of the story, creating an intriguing listen for lovers of historical fiction and romance." — AudioFile Magazine
The Angry Tide is the seventh audiobook in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece on PBS. This riveting audiobook will appeal to fans of historical fiction everywhere.
Cornwall, towards the end of the 18th century. Ross Poldark sits for the borough of Truro as Member of Parliament—his time divided between London and Cornwall, his heart divided about his wife, Demelza.
His old feud with George Warleggan still flares—as does the illicit love between Morwenna and Drake, Demelza's brother.
Before the new century dawns, George and Ross will be drawn together by a loss greater than their rivalry—and Morwenna and Drake by a tragedy that brings them hope . . . .
And with the new century comes much change in the shocking seventh installment of Winston Graham's Poldark series, The Angry Tide.
Critic reviews
"Narrator Oliver Hembrough enhances Winston Graham's stellar writing in this seventh installment of a 12-part series...Hembrough effectively delivers the vivid descriptions of Poldark's two different lives, one in cosmopolitan London and the other in Truro, where the peace of the countryside is a welcome change for him. ... embrough's skill at building suspense will terrify listeners...In contrast, a heartbreaking love letter and the recipient's prayers to God will bring tears." AudioFile, Earphones Award Winner
“From the incomparable Winston Graham. . . who has everything that anyone else has, and then a whole lot more.” —Guardian
“A distinct pleasure and outstanding in the genre.” –Kirkus Reviews

Story
The house was built in the Old Queen's time: built for an Elizabethan pirate who was knighted for the plunder he brought home. It survived many eras, many reigns: it saw the passing of Cromwell and the Civil War. It became rich with an Indian Nabob and poor with a 20th century innkeeper. It saw wars, and lovers, and death. Children were born there, both heirs and bastards. It had ghosts and legends and a history that grew stranger with every generation.

Story
First published as four separate novels ( Some Do Not…, No More Parades, A Man Could Stand Up, and The Last Post) between 1924 and 1928, Parade’s End explores the world of the English ruling class as it descends into the chaos of war. Christopher Tietjens is an officer from a wealthy family who finds himself torn between his unfaithful socialite wife, Sylvia, and his suffragette mistress, Valentine. A profound portrait of one man’s internal struggles during a time of brutal world conflict, Parade’s End bears out Graham Greene’s prediction that "there is no novelist of this century more likely to live than Ford Madox Ford."

But when her younger sister unceremoniously bursts into her quiet life one afternoon, Charlotte's world turns topsy-turvy. Beloved author D. E. Stevenson captures the intricacies of post-World War I England with a light, comic touch that perfectly embodies the spirit of the time. Story
A member of the landed gentry, with a seemingly guaranteed income from his estate in the country, Oblomov lives in Petersburg, uninterested in the business that provides his living and barely aware that the revenue is diminishing. Not that he leads a dissolute life of extravagance, balls and entertainment. Instead he is a dreamer, a sybarite, content above all to spend most of the day supine, in bed. The novel opens with Oblomov thus ensconced, attended only by his dirty, grumbling, indolent servant Zahar, who has looked after him since childhood, catering to his every need.

One of the Best of the Poldark Series
How Wonderful was the language and the descriptions of every detail that Winston Graham used for The Angry Tide. One could get lost in the Beautiful words and sentences that Mr. Graham gave. He must have been at his peak while writing this book. I also compliment the Narrator’s voice. Well done, Oliver J. Hembrough.

I love the Poldark books.
The narrator was amazing and this was one of the better Poldark books. I enjoyed the plot and there were some twists that I did not anticipate. I am pretty good at predicting most books, but there were some things that I did not predict. If you like poldark books you will like this one.
