Publisher's summary

It's complicated. Am I allowed to say that? Am I allowed to use that as an excuse to feel something toward the man that runs this place, the reason I'm here in the first place, as well as my sister, Raven?

They call him The Boss. I call him Fender. And he calls me beautiful. I can tell myself I'm just using him to get what I want. But we both know that's not true.

Fender & Melanie

***Untranslated French phrases. If I didn't own the ebook as well I definitely would've returned this audiobook because of this. It's quite frustrating to have to go to the ebook for translation.

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible review. Dual POV. Book 3 in the Chateau series. Cliffhanger. Both narrators did a great job. Captor/Captive romance. Trigger warnings: kidnapping; slave labor; murder; starvation.

Melanie was kidnapped and drugged then taken to a slave camp to package cocaine with Raven, her older sister. Melanie is submissive, beautiful, and kind but very naive and quite dim. When Fender, the boss of the camp, makes a surprise visit he is instantly drawn to Melanie, he moves her into her own cabin, and pursues her until she gives in to his advances. Raven is set on escaping the camp and liberating all of the kidnapped women and eventually she escapes her cabin, breaks into Melanie's cabin and the two runaway in a blizzard only to be captured. Raven is forced to stay at the camp and Fender takes Melanie to his palace in France. Fender's butler is in love with him and therefore his jealousy leads him to be extremely rude and petty to Melanie. Fender falls deeply for Melanie but Melanie needs her sister to be free, she eventually convinces Fender to set Raven free but by the time he actually plans to set her free she escapes. After searching for her for days, intent on killing her Fender gives up, and returns home to Melanie. Melanie makes him promise that whether she returns or not that he will not retaliate against Raven. Fender agrees believing she's dead. Magnus arrives at Fender's home with Raven and insists Fender set Melanie free, believing Melanie loves him and won't leave he agrees but Melanie leaves with Magnus and Raven. JP

i had at first fidnt want to hear

i hated Fender in the first two books and thought of meloney as a dum blond. i am glad i took the time to listen to this it at least makes the characters likable. i think though fenders story could have been told with one book

Penelope Sky…. You did it again!

Fender and Melanie’s story has been in my mind through the other two books. And now I know more!

Penelope Sky is a master of writing detailed thoughts and feelings and bringing your heart right up into your throat while you’re reading them. This book is excellent and kept me engaged from the very beginning! Heading for The Palace now!’n

GOOD.. BUT BOOKS 1 & 2 WERE MUCH DARKER

I enjoyed Fender and Melanie’s story (which is a ‘to be continued’ Duet) but I just didn’t love it like I did Magnus and Raven’s epic struggle and suspense-filled unique Duet The Chateau and The Camp. In those two books Raven was so strong and kickass but in this Melanie is much weaker and Fender (The Boss), for some reason, hates Raven with a passion and calls her all sorts of abusive names. It’s the flip-side of Magnus and Raven’s story.. same timeline, same events - just told from Fender and Melanie’s lives in the Drug Camp from Hell where the kidnapped women do.. or die. Of course, beautiful Melanie has been spotted early on by the bossy Boss man Magnus, so her time in the Camp was a lot easier and more pampered than the other women who’d been kidnapped, put to work and all feared the hangman on the death days. However, I will continue with the Duet and, by then, I hope Melanie will have grown a pair and that Magnus finds his lighter side when it comes to sister Raven.

Worth a credit? Yes, I love all things Penelope Sky writes.. and I loved the dual POV narration by Michael and Ramona too.

Sad

If you like a really weak heroine then this book is for you. I can’t stop seeing her as useless, money hungry and totally weak. She sleeps with the boss in seconds not caring that he murders 1 innocent woman a week at the camp. I know he has a bad past…but come on. I enjoyed The first two books in the series (about Melanie’s sister) but I can’t even finish this one

Wasn't that great .

Compared to the first 2 books this one was lacking. This book totally missed the mark and could have been a porn book.
