Like the nearly 800 other men imprisoned at Guantanamo, Adayfi didn’t know why he was imprisoned or for how long. It has inspired people from John F Kennedy to The Beatles and became the '60s Bible of counterculture – all because of the timeless truths it shared. Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The history of the tablets translated in the following book is strange and beyond the belief of modern scientists. Their antiquity is stupendous, dating back some 36,000 years. The writer is Thoth, an Atlantean Priest-King, who founded a colony in ancient Egypt after the sinking of the mother country. He was the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, erroneously attributed to Cheops. In it he incorporated his knowledge of the ancient wisdom and also securely secreted records and instruments of ancient Atlantis.

Interesting, informative and also entertaining
The author is an expert in her field and it shows. I learned so much myself on the brain and cognitive function it was worth listening to the book if it had stopped there. The stories about children she has helped were inspiring. If her system was implemented by school systems it would make a huge difference. The education system in our country is in such bad shape children are lucky to get any sort of an education and if they struggle like I did they may have lifelong learning difficulties. I really enjoyed that the author is a life long student also and is as enthusiastic about learning as she is about teaching. Everyone should listen to this book if they are involved with children in any capacity.

Great Compilation
“The Collective: Articles Written by Donesa Walker" is an engaging and thought-provoking audiobook compilation of articles that cover a wide range of topics, from personal growth to social justice and environmental issues; and from education and learning issues to citizenship and character. In each article, the author targets one such issue and then provides helpful strategies and suggestions that can overcome them. The section on learning and brain function, including the variety of learning disabilities/issues that can affect success in school, succinctly explains the struggles of people with neurodivergence.
The narration is excellent and brings the author's words to life. It is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys thought-provoking writing and a powerful reminder of the importance of staying informed and engaged in the world. I highly recommend it.

A Collection of Valuable Resources
The author shares her expertise in various learning disciplines in a light-hearted, fun way that is most engaging. She discusses brain health and fitness, its importance, and how to keep it fit, from being well hydrated to meditation and positive thoughts. She does a fantastic job recommending activities to keep kids' brains in top form during the summer and getting them prepared for the new school year. The book also gives resources for children with dyslexia and ADHD. One pleasant surprise was her section on civility, such as writing thank-you notes after receiving gifts. I think parents are few and far between who stress the importance of that practice with their children and how meaningful it is in building character. This was a most enjoyable listen!
