Publisher's summary

Because no one will write an unauthorized biography about Emmy-winning actor and comedian Chris Elliott, he has done it himself. Listener, you’re hereby warned that much of this book will be disturbing. The Guy Under the Sheets is a behind-the-scenes memoir so personal, so provocative, that Elliott nearly sued himself to halt publication: The most shocking revelation, corroborated by numerous unnamed sources, is that Elliott is not the absurdist comedian that Rolling Stone once called "a genius". In fact, he’s a slightly dim-witted no-talent from a celebrity family who managed to convince a whole generation of disillusioned youth that he was funny.

Few have seen his dark side: a ghastly childhood spent on Manhattan’s posh Upper East Side; a torrid first love affair with Lee Radziwill; a torrid second one with Kathie Lee Gifford; his first job dismembering bodies for the Mob; and countless episodes from the life of a mediocre artist who somehow faked his way to the top - of semi-moderate fame and fortune.

But seriously, Elliott is a brilliantly comic best-selling writer - and while there is plenty of fictional fun in The Guy Under the Sheets, also woven throughout are wonderful real-life anecdotes, including Elliott’s start at Late Night with David Letterman alongside Andy Kaufman, his work in films from Groundhog Day to Cabin Boy, and much more. If the author does not prevail in his lawsuit, this book is bound to delight many new listeners and loyal fans alike.

I liked everything about the book. It’s perfectly preposterous and exactly why I listened to it!

Brilliant!!!!...in a totally moronic kind of way

When Chris Elliott's lifeless body was found in his home show business lost one of those rare creative geniuses that only comes around once in a generation. Elliott was a gifted writer and actor whose television show "get a life" and film "cabin boy" as well as his ground breaking work on the david letterman show shattered the myth that comedy had to be funny to be good.
Chris Elliott is the perfect choice for narrator for this one! And his Chris Elliott like delivery is flawless.

Chris Elliott shines.

Leave it to one of my generations funniest comics....son of one of my father's generations funniest comics. Father and son see the world through through amazing eyes. Often readers try in some way to sound like the author...not so in this case....sounds more like Ethel Merman doing Othello. This book is so funny if you are not laughing out loud at least three times per paragraph then sadly you don't get Chris Elliott. Have been fan since the first time I saw him perform.

truly startling

Chris Elliot is easily the most talented book readers I have ever listened to read a book. The book he read was an excellent book that was a true story about the sordid life of professional book reader, Chris Elliot.

pretentious. Chris narrates and refers to himself

Chris narrates and refers to himself in the 3rd person. absolutely terrible. I'm skipping the rest of this and will beg audible for a trade.
