Publisher's summary

The fight to free the Earth from alien domination began in Live Free or Die, and continued in Citadel. Now Tyler Vernon and his troops aboard the gigantic battle station Troy face a desperate battle with the forces of galactic tyranny. And the very survival of the Earth and its people is not all that is at stake. The galaxy itself must choose to live free or die - and if the tyrants win this battle, darkness will fall across the galaxy for millennia to come.

Both author and narrator improve with each novel

Nothing is simple in life, but battle promises to grant some clarity. Or perhaps it just focuses the chaos. Ringo approaches cultural clashes, political bureaucracies, alien races with clear perception, humor, great writing and sympathy. I find myself hating the rangorra as a whole while sympathizing with individuals. He keeps pulling out new characters I feel I already have known. It's great writing, great twists in plot, and characters you love, even the ones you love to hate.

The narration is top notch. The characters are recognizable and the accents so much fun. Mark Boyett is one of my favorite.

War with Aliens who understand Jacksonian leanings

What made the experience of listening to The Hot Gate the most enjoyable?

Different perspective on space conflict - Aliens tend to have only evil intent - possibly lacking developed characters - Human characters tend to fit in political pigeon holes

What other book might you compare The Hot Gate to and why?

All three volume space operas - this is the resolution installment

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

Narration performance was excellent

Excellent

I really enjoyed this audiobook very much. My only complaint is that there are only three. This series has been left hanging for around a decade.

Great series

Still holds up well. One of the few series I continue to go back to every few years. Just wish authors didn’t feel F-bombs were required. Though this author uses fewer than most.

Fitting end, but I hope there's more!

Well you have to read the first 2 books "Live Free or Die" and "Citadel" before this book, and like those this is another great story that I hope is continued in future books - I have no idea if there will be more books but really this could go on for ever and I would not complain

It doesn't seem like the war is over, but the battles are done for now - I know there is more story here and I just hope it gets done giving all the really good reviews here and other places about these books

Live Free or Die was really way more fun then the next 2 books mainly because it was the first, however there is nothing that makes these "not fun" but they are just a little less fun then the first one was - but seeing as there are really no more things to discover until the war is over this book and the last one are essentially more battle filled then the first one

Tyler makes a great character for sure, and he just cant stand the stupid politics that go on and seeing as hes so rich and powerful he really throws his weight around to get things done in a way that makes more sense really - like there are these Latin countries that have paid for ships and to send there sons up to run everything, but the Apollo Corp dont like that and requires some Americans to run things at the top so it can be done correctly, they say things like " my son doesn't have to do what his boss says because they are beneath them socially" and they have the mind set that "if its easier to make them loose then to win, then make them loose" so maintenance don't get done and Tyler just cant stand it and smashed a chair in front of them because they wont admit that they were wrong because Latins are like that I guess

if you remember book 2 where Butch talks to his teacher that has the scratchy voice and its because of breathing vacuum, you will love the ending of this book - it was just about the best I have ever read, if not the best - don't miss these books
