Hazel Eaton is in fear for her life. If she cannot find a solution to her poverty she will be jailed or worse, for her debts. Seeking a way out, she answers an advertisement for a Mail Order Bride, to a man seeking companionship from a woman who is able to withstand the demands of frontier life.
Charles Dunlap. is enamoured when he reads his first letter from Hazel. She has had a hard life to be sure but everything about her indicates she is a strong and capable woman whom he hopes to build a companionable home with. However, on their first meeting he is astonished to discover his bride flinches and shies at every movement.
As time progresses, Charles accepts that the home and the children he hoped for, is forfeit now, and he must accept this timid creature who cannot meet his gaze or be truly his wife.
But when a terrifying incident occurs, and Hazel is taken hostage she must face that which she fears the most and Charles must risk his very life to save her.
Can Charles ever find the love he hopes for with Hazel? Can Hazel set aside her past and move forward into a full future with Charles? Or is fear and hate stronger than love?
