Publisher's summary

It used to be that I obsessed over Ares Hidalgo from afar.

But that was before he climbed through my window.

Raquel Álvarez is hardworking and serious about her future. It’s always just been her and her mom, and that’s kept Raquel on the straight and narrow. After all, she’s only got one goal - to become a psychologist. Well, that and to get Ares Hildago to notice her.

For as long as Raquel can remember, she has been obsessed with Ares - known to everyone as the rich, hot, popular playboy. Even though he lives next door, Raquel has never spoken to Ares. Yet, she can’t help thinking there’s more to him...and she can’t help imagining what it’d feel like to kiss him.

After a chance encounter reveals her crush is anything but unrequited, their steamy attraction grows into what can only be described as hands-down hot. They fall hard and fast for one another.

Raquel is all in with Ares. But Ares can’t, or won’t, commit, as his struggle with personal and family responsibilities leaves little room for falling in love. The will-they-won’t-they tension is killing her, and it may just kill what they have.

What burns bright burns fast, but for Ares and Raquel, can it last?

Loved it! Same but different from the movie

I loved the book just as much as I loved the movie. I think the book had a lot more substance but I understand that it is hard to condense everything in a book down without becoming long and boring. The sexual tension between the two is very evident In the book and I think the movie did a great job of making you feel this. I wish that the yoshi plot from the book was in the movie. I think showing how relationships sometimes effect friendships is important. I wish the book would have given the back story on Claudia. All in all I loved both and would recommend both. Some reviews said they were annoyed with the readers voice but it didn’t bother me at all.

😍😍😍😍😍

It took a minute for me to get into it but once I turned the corner I was hooked. The story was really good and I felt like the character development was really great. My only issue was the male narrator, maybe just a little feeling would have helped. He sounded like he was reading it for the first time. Ramona was fantastic!!! I would have preferred her to do the entire thing, great performance. I hope we get more of the story.

Fantastic book, I loved it!! The Netflix movie is pretty good as well, but the story line is a bit different. :)

loved it!

The female narrator was a bit overdramatic, but she was cool.
For everyone who watched the movie - pay attention it's very different from the book, alot of things that happened in the movie weren't a part of the book, and vice versa. Loved both the mivie and the book, ypu can actually see here the changes of Ares.

Better than the movie

I enjoyed the story a lot more than the movie. I love how passionate they were for each other. Although her pain was so emotional at times, it pained me to hear it.

Great YA Romance

Loved the movie on Netflix. Decided to try the book. Loved the book even more than the movie. (I wonder why the movie cut out every aspect of their relationship besides sex???)

However, I strongly disliked both the male and female narrators. The female narrator was frequently whiny and her young & dumb voice choices often didn’t match the apparent maturity level of the characters (but that could have been a directing choice). The male narrator had no emotion or inflection at all, especially when portraying a female.

My only issue with the actual content of the book is that there was a disturbing lack of parental/adult supervision for every character. Also, many of the situations the teenagers found themselves and made me uncomfortable, especially regarding alcohol, including, drunk driving. In fact, the permissiveness of under age drinking and the overt teenage sex leads me to believe that this book was definitely not written by an American as, while those things may happen, they are taboo.
