Publisher's summary
Matt and Liz Logelin were high-school sweethearts. The pair settled together in Los Angeles and they had it all: the perfect marriage, a beautiful new home, and a baby girl on the way. But just 27 hours after they welcomed Madeline into the world, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and instantly died, without ever holding the daughter whose arrival she had so eagerly awaited.
Faced with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt coped by returning to the small blog he had created to keep friends and family updated on Liz's pregnancy, which today has become a place for him to share with over a million curious readers the day-to-day of two lives bound by loss and love.
But there is more to his story than just raising a daughter alone: Matt Logelin is an extraordinary human being. Having been sustained through tragedy by the kindness and generosity of strangers, he is now dedicated to helping others in difficult situations by reaching out and inspiring those facing loss or adversity.
A heartwarming and heartbreaking story punctuated by beautifully recollected - and often humorous - memories and anecdotes, Two Kisses for Maddy unquestionably has something to offer any listener who has experienced grief, and has sought the courage to live again.

Story
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

"You'll change your mind." That's what everyone says to Jen Kirkman - and countless women like her - when she confesses she doesn't plan to have children. But you know what? It's hard enough to be an adult. You have to dress yourself and pay bills and remember to buy birthday gifts. You have to drive and get annual physicals and tip for good service. Some adults take on the added burden of caring for a tiny human being with no language skills or bladder control.

Lauren Weedman is not okay. She's living what should be the good life in sunny Los Angeles. After a gig as a correspondent with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, she scored parts in blockbuster movies, which led to memorable recurring roles on HBO's Hung and Looking. She had a loving husband and an adorable baby boy. In these comedic essays, she turns a piercingly observant, darkly funny lens on the ways her life is actually not okay.

Beautiful and Heartbreaking
Would you consider the audio edition of Two Kisses for Maddy to be better than the print version?
I never touched the print version. But having Matthew narrate his story was an amazing experience. Anytime his voice cracked or focused on a specific story it made the story so personal. It was beautiful.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Kisses for Maddy?
I knew the overall story (the tragedy) but I really enjoyed getting a grasp on his wife as his wife. At the beginning of the book he really let you connect to Liz as he did.
Have you listened to any of Matthew Logelin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I never heard him before but again I appreciated having him take me on this journey.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Onward
Any additional comments?
I visited Matthew's blog multiple times throughout the time I read his book. And I am inspired to look into his non-profit. I felt honored to learn about his wife.

surreal & incredible at the same time!
I cannot phantom how the author read his memoir, but thoroughly grateful that he did! I laughed numerous times - picturing the scene he talked about! I had tears on & off, mostly that he was able to have the for-thought for compassion OR the understood anger in some poignant situations! His wife must be incredibly in awe up in heaven!

Good, but sad story
I’ve had this book in my Audible library for years and finally listened. A good, but a very tragic and sad story. What should have been a wonderful event for this couple turned to sadness. The author did a great job in moving the story along and I was engaged throughout. I could have done without the f bomb. I hope this wasn’t his daughter’s first word. I do recommend the book. It’s a good lesson for dealing with grief.

Beautiful memories for Maddy
Breathtaking, sad, happy, hilarious, and memorable. Matt created this book to allow Maddy to have tangible memories of her beautiful mother. You didn't set out to ever be anything other than a good husband and father, you became an inspiration to many. Thank you for sharing Maddy and your words over all these years. I can not believe Maddy is 9 in four days. Enjoy your day Maddy!

Going through the same thing.
My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her 6th month of pregnancy. We had the baby 8 weeks early which put our son in the NICU. Her health rapidly declined after giving birth and she passed away 33 days later. She never got to see the baby come home. This is definitely a book for someone in the same situation.

Recommended by my wife... ended up loving it!
This was a book that my wife had been talking about for weeks before the release date. I decided early on that I wouldn't be listening to it since our taste for good books has always been very different. Then one night after getting up to care for my crying 2 year old boy I decided to give it a try and see if it would help me fall asleep. After the first 10 minutes I was totally engaged and I listened intently to this story of love, loss and motivation to live. I continued listening for the next two hours and finally fell asleep at chapter 12. Excellent book! Life changing... just like my wife says. I especially appreciate the author's honest description as he retells the events.
