Today’s lecture focuses on Elections in India. Articles 324 to 329 of the Constitution outline the framework for fair and free elections. Article 324 establishes the Election Commission, an independent body that oversees elections at all levels, including Parliament, state legislatures, and the offices of the President and Vice President. Article 325 mandates a single general electoral roll, and Article 326 grants voting rights to citizens over 18. Articles 327 and 328 allow Parliament and state legislatures to legislate on election matters. Article 329 protects the delimitation of constituencies from judicial review.
