Publisher's summary

The stunning third book in the sexy, action-packed Crescent City series, following the global best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath.

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she's going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that's no easy feat when she has no idea whom to trust.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he's in the Asteri's dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce's fate. He's desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri's leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

In this sexy, breathtaking sequel to the number one best sellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath, Sarah J. Maas' Crescent City series reaches new heights as Bryce and Hunt's world is brought to the brink of collapse—with its future resting on their shoulders.

The Answer !

The answer to a question I didn’t know I was asking! Bryce’s journey, Rhuns sacrifice. Therion’s shame. This book has sent me to heaven, to Hel and back again emotionally. A glimpse of a world our dreams could not possibly conjure.

Bryce is running full speed through a quest in total darkness, physically and emotionally. Meeting some of the deadliest beings in Prythian, Bryce will do whatever it takes to get back to her mate and brother. She will finally have all the answers, but will that break her before she can restore Midgard to its former glory?

Rhun’s suffering is endless. His heart shattered, his body broken. But he knows his destiny- the royal line- ends with him. He will take control of that ending to protect his sister, her mate and their allies.

Can Hunt survive the Asteri prison, having known true love, laughter and a cabal of friends? Can he survive the total destruction of his body- yet again- to find his Bryce? His mate?

Absolutely incredible

A book to link our favorite worlds 🥹 I’m still processing all that I read, but this book was incredible. I was intrigued throughout the entire book. Not a single chapter lacked in excitement for me. 5/5 ⭐️

Much anticipated release that more than lived up to expectations

A great third installment to the CC series. It answered the questions that had been building from the previous two books, and even some of the questions that stemmed from the ACOTAR series. The crossover was not what I expected it to be, but it was well done and stayed true to the characters. I loved seeing Nesta and Bryce interact. The drama, politics, adventure, romance, friendship, and self-growth is all turned up a notch in Flame and Shadow and it was hard to put down because every chapter left me wanting more! It really felt like everyone’s storylines and character arcs were honored and that everything was wrapped up perfectly by the end of this book. The only other book that has ever drawn this level of emotion out of me the whole way was Kingdom of Ash. I can’t wait to see what comes next for these characters- and how the events of this book impacts ACOTAR moving forward. Elizabeth Evans also did a phenomenal job narrating, as always!

This series is EVERYTHING!!

Okay so I’m not sure why people are so “disappointed” by this book, but it was so incredible. I think people are upset that Rhysand wasn’t really in it… and I kind of wish there had been more interaction between the characters from ACOTAR and this series. And I still have questions. But I loved what we got of Nesta and Azriel, and I have a feeling SJM has more plans for the future. People also complained that the ending felt rushed, but I thought it was wrapped up beautifully. That was my complaint on the TOG ending was that it was so dragged out and boring after that last battle. This ended so perfect, but left room for more storyline in the future. Myself personally, I want more Lidia and Ruhn. And *(SPOILER)*

I want to know why Ruhn and Rhysand look like twins.

Anyways, I didn’t go into this book with expectations aside from it being amazing like the other 2 books in the series, and I’m happy to say it exceeded my expectations. Now I’m just sad for it to be over.

Yes audible I did indeed enjoy this program

What a whirlwind. I loved Earth and Blood and Sky and Breath was honestly very slow and kind of hard to get through, super worth it for the ending though. This book however, was incredibly fast paced. I ate it up. I’m incredibly sad that it’s over. I love the little nods to TOG and ACOTAR. I do still have some questions that I want answered, mainly wtf is Fury??? I’m very curious as to if we are going to have any more CC books. I’ve heard that we will, but the ending was wrapped up pretty well in my opinion. I guess we’ll have to see.

Loved it! Narrator is fantastic!

Sarah J Maas and Elizabeth Evans combo have done it again. I have every single one of Sarah‘s books and enjoy, listening to them as much as I do reading them. That is in part due to Elizabeth Evans narration.
Well done on all fronts! Highly recommend!
