Publisher's summary

In addition to strength, steel, and courage, a hero discovers he's in need of a friend, in the first installment of a daring and dangerous fantasy adventure.

When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere.

Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway. Naturally, Daniel is classified as a "hero," while Orrin is—also naturally—relegated to the fantasy equivalent of "bleh." Nothing new there.

But in this realm populated with lethal foes both inhuman and inescapable, sticking together matters more than ever, and soon Daniel and Orrin will discover more about themselves—and each other—than either one thought possible. In fact, Orrin just might find the confidence and strength to become something other than your average sidekick . . .

The first volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than 600,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Bad call producer.

when ever the narrator said HERO or the names of SKILLS in a different tone with his voice, was terrible. It ruined the flow of the story and was distracting. I think the Producer of the audio made a Bad call. Could have been 5 stars. All the voices were fine except Daniel and Owens were two similar.

Loved the buddy isekai story

overall I loved this story. such a great start. not usually a fan of books that focus on more than one sorta MC even though we know Orrin is the true MC.

The absolute huge draw back and my absolute disdain for this whole reading was the emphasis when they read skills and classes. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea for this but please please please for the sake of us listeners do not do this in the second book coming out. I shuttered in my mind everytime it happened. It was like someone slapped me in the back of head everytime I hear "HERO" or the like. And it was not something I grew used to by the end. It was annoying from the first time I heard it to the last time.

Fantastic Characters with exceptional deployment, plot, voice acting and insight ro a world on the edge.

Highly recommend the experience ^.^ story. Sound foundation for a potentially very interesting and story arc. I am really looking forward to book 2, 3, 4 and 10. Grand Adventure!

Titles/skills sound is awful

1. The person that thought that all skills and titles are to have a special sound should look for a new job. At least make it consistent and don’t change between them. Using the same sound as everything else when the MC is using a sarcastic voice/pronunciation is really distracting

2. The MC is supposed to be smart but is seriously stupid, he burns Ability Points as there is no tomorrow but never on a good ranged attack, even complains constantly in fights about not having a decent ranged attack. Even opts for a melee skill instead of a ranged attack because he thinks the skill name is silly..

Wtf..

Awesome start to a new Littpg

Starting off this was a great listen good character's and the system was great classic attributes with attribute points to increase stats the skills you'd unlock from leveling and purchasing with action points now the only disliked part of the book is how in the narration of Classes, Skills and magic are always read in a system voice I could understand if it was used when opening stat windows but the characters could just be talking and they say hero it's read out like HERO! not sure why they couldn't just have characters say it like normal in a conversation other than that going straight to book 2
