Patricia G. Barnes, J.D., is a nationally known expert on employment discrimination and workplace abuse. She is quoted in many national media outlets, including The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Vox, AARP and Fast Company. She is an attorney and former judge who has written several books on human rights in the workplace. These books are: - Surviving Bullies, Queen Bees & Psychopaths in the Workplace (2012). This is a legal guide focused on workplace bullying, harassment, and abuse. Workers will learn about concepts such as incivility and workplace bullying and options for addressing abuse. Employers will learn how to foster a healthy workplace and when workplace abuse becomes actionable under the law. - Transcend Your Boss: Zen and the Difficult Workplace (2013). Workplace abuse can take a severe emotional and physical toll on the target in a surprisingly short period of time. This book offers a path to regain control over how you respond to abuse until you can achieve a positive resolution. - Overcoming Age Discrimination in Employment (2016). This book helps workers understand their rights and confront age discrimination. Once unemployed, older workers find it almost impossible to find equivalent work. This easy-to-read book provides an overview of age discrimination law, arming workers with the knowledge to fight for their jobs. - Betrayed: The Legalization of Age Discrimination in the Workplace (2014). This demonstrates that older workers literally are second class citizens under U.S. law and, as a result, suffer epidemic and unaddressed age discrimination in the workplace.
