Publisher's summary
But who built this forcefield? And why did they choose this planet?
Magnus, a young physics student on Samsara, can’t seem to stop asking these questions. But when his university is invaded by a neighboring military and one of the engineers that designed the forcefield comes to his aid, the answers begin to flow.
As Magnus is thrown into the chaos of war, he slowly comes to discover the universe's darkest secret: there was a message written into the very fabric of the universe—written into the laws of physics themselves.
When Magnus learns who wrote the message and what it says, it slowly dawns on him why his world is plagued with so much war, why the mysterious engineers built the forcefield, and of all the planets out there—why they chose Samsara.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

A time-travel adventure that just might make you a believer. The Time Machine by H. G. However, after reading Mission in Time, this might be the first time you actually find yourself believing in time travel. Imagine being sent on a time-travel mission expecting to arrive in a certain period of time and finding yourself in a very different era—a major period in the history of the United States....

The last humans fled a burning planet, heading to the stars. Today we are still refugees. Hungry. Afraid. Our enemies hunt us everywhere. So we hide. On distant asteroids. In rundown space stations. When Elixr crashes on a barren world, they join forces with an impoverished girl living on the edge of society to search for answers. Who are they? Why have they survived? And what could Elixr possibly do to save a world on the precipice of collapse? The more they learn, the greater the stakes become...

Story
The Ship fled a dying Earth to save the human race. Launched as the last gasp of humanity, the Ship set out to preserve the species by seeding the universe with one billion colonists. Generations of crew, trained to be either flight or marines, have spent 5,000 years protecting the Ship and its civilian cargo from the constant threat of alien violence. Fifteen-year-old Zax has always had trouble fitting in with the other cadets, but he's finally on the cusp of attaining his dream and gaining entrance to the Pilot Academy.

No space opera. AI not the best reader.
This book is just flat. The writing is flat. The story is flat. The AI reader isn’t bad, but seems to miss the proper inflections. Little feeling. Kind of watching a movie on a mono TV instead of full surround THX.
The story premise is weird, not novel. The characters are okay, but the author has to tell you about them instead of developing them through action and dialogue. I only got a couple hours in and had to stop. Maybe I’ll pick it up again someday in the background, but I’ve got too many better books to get too.

Great writing
A griping story with good writing and even better depicting. The author really brings you into the world. This would be a great movie one day!
