Publisher's summary

We're all animals...although some of us have more primal instincts than others.

Ex-policeman Joe Cassidy has a keen interest in animal behaviour and how it can have a bearing on some of the most heinous of human crimes - a talent that has heavily informed his detective work over the years. Although until now, he thought that he had left detective work behind....

Suffering from PTSD and wracked with guilt and failure after a grisly discovery in a particularly disturbing case, Joe lives in a lonely shack in the shadow of the nuclear power station at Dungeness. But when the daughter of an old friend goes missing, the investigation centres on the wealthy family's animal park.

Owing the owner a favour from years past, Joe is drawn further and further into the enquiry - hoping to solve the riddle of the disappearance amid the family's increasing dysfunction and desperate to find redemption for himself in the process.

Featuring: Fehinti Balogun, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Ed Bluemel, Imogen Church, Brendan Coyle, Laurence Dobiesz, Victoria Hamilton, Rebekah Hinds, David John, Harry Lloyd, Brigid Lohrey, Joseph Marcell, Michael Shon, James Smith, Jo Stone-Fewings, Niky Wardley, Sarah Whitehouse and Lia Williams.

This was a massive trip, like damn....

Let me start off by saying the story telling and performances were absolutely amazing. So many twist and turns as the story progresses to keep you interested. Then that final twist hits and the writer brings you on this horrifying ride yet entertaining ride.

Not for me

I liked the story I just don't like this type of narration. All the background noises were too much. The story was good. I just prefer a simple narration.

Great full cast audio!

Besides loving the story which kept me guessing until the end, I really enjoyed the full cast audio with sound and music. Really recommend this for the mystery/suspense lovers out there.

A great whodunit

I found this looking for a performance by Brendan Coyle after watching reruns of Downton Abbey (he played Mr. Bates) and appreciating his voice. So I 'd give this give stars just for that, however the other voices are also give stars, only four for the sound affects which occasionally obscure the voices. Generally the production is an audio drama, not the usual narrative. The story is well devised if not Dashiell Hammett. I look forward to more in this series. BTW it's hard to find a print version of this story.

Like a Midsommer Radio Play!

I loved this book. There were a couple of flaws, mostly to do with the newish trend to try to connect too many events no matter how ridiculously implausible, (You’ll figure it out at the very end.) That said, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love Brendan Coyle on the screen and he is a great in this too. Ditto all the voice actors.
