Perfect for our family with a young adult

We listened to it as a family and every bit of it was spot on. We could relate to all the scenarios and even the scenarios we have not reached. I believe books like these will help the young adult in our family grow and prepare for the future.

Asperger's and borderline intellectual functioning

This narrative seems to be designed for people who have Borderline Intellectual Functioning in that the sentences are simple, as if one were speaking to a child. What if you're an engineer? This is a Jack and Jill Reader format. I found it intellectually insulting.

ADULTHOOD WITH ASPERGERS IS CHALLENGING!

I found this book to address many areas that an adult with Aspergers may needs to learn how to act or respond now that he is an adult with different expectations of him .

Extremely Basic

I was hoping for something with a few more Asperger’s specific strategies than just basic “how to adult” advice that applies to pretty much everyone. Disappointingly overly simplified.

Pandering and Ableist

I get it Dr. Grossberg has all the credentials in the world but that does not mean she has any clue how to talk to people on the spectrum and this book is a clear example of that. She regularly uses idioms I had to look up a few of them myself this is something I have always had trouble with. Her "advise" in way to many situations is just hide your disability to make other people more comfortable. So it is okay to ask a person in a wheelchair to act like they can walk just so I can feel more comfortable. I think not. I finished the book looking for a sentence or paragraph that wasn't offensive sadly I didn't find it. It is clear why she is so quick to recommend the hate group Autism Speaks. Save time and money Steer Clear of this one.

This is specifically written for individuals with Aspies who still reside at home with their parents.

In the first Chapter and will likely not continue. There are a lot of assumptions about the reader/listener’s situation and speaks to them as if they fit within that box.

This includes assumptions about still living with parents, having video game addictions, and not being able to handle adult finances. One of the most concerning assumptions is that the Aspie grew up in a home that was knowledgeable about it and supportive, “reaching out to teachers to explain why the assignment was late”.

These are not situations relevant to all, but come across as biased and thus are not helpful if you cannot relate to these conditions.

Not for adults.

Maybe you give this book to a an early to late teen to prepare them for adulthood? For adults, it’s pretty useless and mis marketed. Audio isn’t to blame but I’ll be asking for money back -could tell pretty quickly we were staying in shallow end of pool.

Did not enjoy. Was not helpful. Very monotone. Not helpful for grown adult. May be better for 18 - 22.

Not for adults. Title is misleading.

This book is written for children. I bought the book to help me communicate as an adult. I listened to hours of how to prepare to be an adult. I am now dumber for listening to this.
