Publisher's summary

In early spring, amateur detective Geneva Pomolo receives a wedding invitation from a friend she hasn’t thought about in 10 years. Gladys Button has already been married six times—five of those marriages ended in divorce or annulment and the sixth ended in death. Now she’s getting married again, and she wants Geneva to be there.

Baffled by the invitation, Geneva accepts. But when she and her detective partner Iris Reeves drive up to Fort Wayne to meet Gladys, they learn all is not as it seems. Gladys wants Geneva to investigate a murder—her own. She’s become convinced that someone—possibly one of the wedding guests—is trying to kill her. Geneva brushes away the notion, but Gladys’ worst fears are vindicated when she’s poisoned just hours before the ceremony.

With no shortage of suspects, Geneva and Iris must bring all their training to bear on the most challenging puzzle of their careers. Each of Gladys’ living ex-husbands was present in Fort Wayne at the time of the murder, and each one has ample incentive for wanting to kill her....

Fun cozy mystery

Sisters & Switchery is a short cozy mystery in the Mrs Pomolo Investigates series by Donna Muse. In this book, Geneva gets an wedding invitation from Gladys Button, a friend Geneva has’t heard from in a decade. Gladys is about to marry for the 7th time, and is afraid someone is trying to kill her. Gladys wants Geneva and her partner Iris to investigate, but unfortunately the investigation is posthumously. Five ex-spouses, a peeping Tom, and unhappy siblings sure give Geneva a lot of suspects. And, who knew a potato was so useful! The narration by Rachael Reading is great. She brings the characters and story to life. I received a free copy of the audiobook for my honest review.

Come for a wedding and stay for a funeral.

This was a great cozy mystery to listen to. The characters were engaging and kept me guessing what they were up to.

A Wedding Mystery

Sisters and Switchery is the 28th book in the Mrs. Pomolo Investigates cozy mystery series. This was my first listen in this series and I very much enjoyed it. Mrs. Geneva Pomolo and her sidekick Iris are invited to the wedding of an old colleague/friend who is on her seventh marriage. Upon arriving at the wedding, they find Glady’s, the bride, ex-husbands have also been invited to the wedding and her sister runs the local youth hostel where many guests are staying. When Gladys turns up dead, Geneva and Iris take the lead in solving the mystery.

This was a very enjoyable listen that comes in at about 2 ½ hours so is a quick listen. Geneva and her friends are fun with their own set of antics. As usual, the local police are not excited about Geneva’s interference in the case, but she perseveres. The storyline is very cute, and there are plenty of twists and red herrings to keep things interesting.

Rachael Reading did a credible job narrating the story. She kept things interesting and distinguished the characters well. The only thing that was a bit distracting was that she seemed to speak rather choppily.

I recommend this book for those looking for a fun, cozy mystery.
