This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... A bit long on philosophizing
I love this series and the characters in it, but Alexander McCall Smith tends to go off on tangents about life in the contemporary world. Some of that is fine but as the series progresses it seems he’s giving more pages to that and less to moving the story forward. So this was a little slow and dull because of that.
