Jennifer Johnson is betrothed to a man old enough to be her grandfather. Resigned to a dreary existence as a nursemaid, she leaps at the opportunity for a genuine love, answering an ad for a mail-order bride and finds herself in correspondence with the rugged, albeit, distant Sheriff Harrison Williams.
Harrison is taken by Jennifer's youthful energy and unwavering spirit. They strike a pact of marriage, however, when she arrives in the rustic town of Littleridge, Harrison is conspicuously absent. Not only has he been too busy to meet the stagecoach, but she has been the victim of a highway robbery. Driven by his pursuit of justice, Harrison diverts all his resources to bringing the highwaymen to justice, leaving Jennifer to question her choices and feeling reduced to a mere housemaid.
As their relationship crumbles under the weight of unmet expectations. Harrison makes a devastating decision and Jennifer is left alone. But fate has a way of reshaping destiny. When a gunfight leaves Harrison wounded, Jennifer must take care of him. In a heated clash of wills and untamed emotions they must navigate a different path than each had hoped for.
