Publisher's summary

One dinner party will destroy everything.

The night that throws a wrecking ball into Abby’s life starts out perfectly at first. There’s still a hint of summer sun in the purple-streaked sky. Abby and her best friend, Sienna, look on fondly as their two husbands laugh under the garden gazebo. None of them know it’s the last time they will be together again.

What starts out as just a little fun has devastating consequences for the couples. Alone with Sienna’s husband, Greg, Abby finds him unexpectedly charming. Caught up in the moment, she reveals a secret she swore never to tell. And something happens that night that neither she nor Greg can take back.

Abby is desperate to tell her husband and Sienna the truth but can’t risk Greg sharing what she told him. She has no choice but to keep quiet. Then Greg suddenly disappears.

Is her best friend’s husband simply running from his secrets? Or has someone decided they can’t risk that he may share theirs?

From number one best-selling author Kathryn Croft comes a gripping and twisty psychological thriller perfect for fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.

The complexity of the characters

This book had me guessing until almost a very end. Being the amateur sleuth that I am, I figured it out. Very enjoyable, and I liked the readers.

easy to continue once the story starts. however some unanswered questions still lingers from all of the plot twists.

Slow at first but gets better

It started kind of weird and slow to me but I am glad I stuck with it, it has a lot of twists and I didn’t see the end coming.

unlikable characters

Really annoying characters. All of them. And the amount of overreacting, jumping to false conclusions is ridiculous.

A bit long but worth it. Kept guessing till the end

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was a tad bit too long in my opinion, there were times i just wanted it to get to the point. But overall a good listen. As someone who always tries to guess the endings or plot i was kept guessing till the reveals. The way she introduced characters and motives really made me want to keep going so i could figure it out. I was invested. Definitely recommend

It started off good

The story was actually good but towards the end it started getting dry in my personal opinion. The author should have made the ending a little earlier in the story because I feel like most of the inbetween stuff was unnecessary

enticing story

I love when I think I've got a mystery figured out and it turns out I'm completely off. this is very well written and ties up nicely at the end.

Didn't see that coming!

Throughout the book you believe you know who the villain is. then you start to question yourself. You make another assumption only to find out it too is wrong. By the time you find out who really was the culprit, your mind is blown! Sienna is a likable character once you get to know her. Abby ends up being a total moron, Rob is still a sweetheart, and Hope ends up being just as her name suggests. The only true despicable character here is the husband. Great narration and great story.

Narrator was excellent

The story moved sooooo slow. Great ending but could have cut out probably 2-3 hours
