Story
Tell a stranger that you talk to yourself, and you’re likely to get written off as eccentric. But the truth is that we all have a voice in our head. When we talk to ourselves, we often hope to tap into our inner coach but find our inner critic instead. When we’re facing a tough task, our inner coach can buoy us up: Focus - you can do this. But, just as often, our inner critic sinks us entirely: I’m going to fail. They’ll all laugh at me. What’s the use?

Trauma is a fact of life. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Publisher's summary
A step-by-step plan clinically proven to break the cycle of worry and fear that drives anxiety and addictive habits
We are living through one of the most anxious periods any of us can remember. Whether facing issues as public as a pandemic or as personal as having kids at home and fighting the urge to reach for the wine bottle every night, we are feeling overwhelmed and out of control. But in this timely book, Judson Brewer explains how to uproot anxiety at its source using brain-based techniques and small hacks accessible to anyone.
We think of anxiety as everything from mild unease to full-blown panic. But it's also what drives the addictive behaviors and bad habits we use to cope (e.g. stress eating, procrastination, doom scrolling and social media). Plus, anxiety lives in a part of the brain that resists rational thought. So we get stuck in anxiety habit loops that we can't think our way out of or use willpower to overcome. Dr. Brewer teaches us map our brains to discover our triggers, defuse them with the simple but powerful practice of curiosity, and to train our brains using mindfulness and other practices that his lab has proven can work.
Distilling more than 20 years of research and hands-on work with thousands of patients, including Olympic athletes and coaches, and leaders in government and business, Dr. Brewer has created a clear, solution-oriented program that anyone can use to feel better - no matter how anxious they feel.
*This audiobook includes a PDF of the behavioral tendencies questionnaire from the book.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

"One of the hardest things about tackling a bad habit is confronting the anxiety behind it. Jud Brewer has given us a breakthrough program with great tips and hacks that anyone can use to feel better. We all need this book!" (BJ Fogg, PhD, New York Times best-selling author of Tiny Habits)
"Unwinding Anxiety provides a step-by-step guide to Judson Brewer’s personally designed, clinically proven path that can alleviate your mind from anxiety, obsessive thinking, addiction, and more. It guides your brain to rewire in helpful ways as it inspires your mind to understand it’s inner processes more deeply and to live with more freedom, gratitude, interpersonal connection, and joy." (Daniel J. Siegel, MD, New York Times best-selling author of Aware)
"You cannot thrive if you’re perpetually anxious. It’s that simple. Jud Brewer has given us a plan that can help us overcome our anxious thoughts, feelings and habits to create true well-being. It is absolutely game-changing." (Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO, Thrive Global)

A Life Changing Book.. A Master Record!
This book is conceded as a master record in Self-development Gener.
I've read many books in how to develop my diciplins regarding eating, sleeping and worrying. However this one is totally different.
The concept of the "3 Gears" is surprisingly practical and effective! more over Judson's voice is so calming and motivating.
Also the book cover and the colors are so appealing 😊
Finally you can use booth apps "Unwinding Anxiety" and "Craving to Quit" as companions to support your development plans and getting a more robust 3 gears effect...

I read this book and after 3 weeks I felt better. Then I stopped and thought I was good. These habits take time to change. Remember it took a long time to make them and will take consistent time and effort to break them. BUT we can all do it! God bless you all and make the world a kinder and more curious place. Pure magic --that anyone can do
Just pay attention when you least want to. New information brings new opportunities to make new decisions, changing your default wiring over time. Highly recommend also Thinking, Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman (Summary) for enlightening explanations of many ways that our brain takes shortcuts, like habits, to make life manageable, using automatic decision making vs. fully reasoned decisions .
