Brenda L. Wolfe, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist who has specialized in the study and treatment of obesity and eating disorders for more than 40 years, mastering the ability to translate scientific knowledge into practical guidance. As a result, she has helped countless people achieve their wellness goals. In addition to clinical expertise, Dr. Wolfe has extensive experience in scientific research and the design of both self-help and professional training programs. She has lectured to professional audiences across the United States, and published academic articles as well as self-help books, including Get Your Loved One Sober: Alternatives to Nagging, Pleading, and Threatening (with Robert J. Meyers) which received the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy Self Help Book Seal of Merit Award. Firmly believing it is our responsibility to create the world in which we want to live, Dr. Wolfe has a long history of volunteer work. As adjunct faculty at the University of New Mexico Department of Psychiatry she lectures on the treatment of eating disorders. She has served as President of the New Mexico Psychological Association and on professional committees at multiple organizations including the Academy of Eating Disorders, New Mexico Department of Health, Executive Council of the New Mexico State Plan for Healthier Weight, and Association of Behavior and Cognitive Therapies. In addition to professional work, Dr. Wolfe derives great joy from promoting the welfare and education of children. To that end, in addition to seriously spoiling her grandchildren, she volunteers in the local elementary school and serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the foster system. Since 2005, she has also been the reviewer of her district's high-school Science Expo proposals that involve human participants. Her hope is that every child becomes a literate and science-savvy adult. Dr. Wolfe makes her home in New Mexico where her life is rich with family, friends, and meaningful work. Her writing goal is to share the wisdom she has gained through her work to help readers enrich their own lives. You can learn more and communicate with her by visiting www.brendalwolfe.com.
